Green Lantern, a review by Dragonfire

I'm not as familiar with Green Lantern, though I have learned a little about the character in the last few years.  I did want to see the movie and I went on opening day.

I think the movie works well as an origin story for Hal/Green Lantern.  It shows how Hal gets the ring and adjusts to his new powers.  The plot is interesting and makes for an entertaining movie.  I think one thing may have been a little rushed, but it still works overall.
I don't know if there are plans to do another movie, but there is a short scene setting up a second movie.  I'd see another Green Lantern movie, especially dealing with the story it seems set up for.

There is a decent amount of action.  There is some violence, though it isn't too extreme.  There is a lot of CGI in the movie, but it is very well done.  This is a movie that just wouldn't have worked that well without the CGI.  The suits look good, with them looking different on different Lanterns.  The suits are sort of alive, with some kind of shimmering green threads that get more noticeable when the Lanterns are using the rings.  I did see the movie in 3D.  That was done well, though nothing too outstanding.  Not as much was done with the 3D as I had thought might have been.

The characters are interesting and the cast is really good.  Sinestro really doesn't do a whole lot in the movie.  I've seen some things say that he is acting as Hal's mentor in the movie, but he really wasn't.  He wasn't at all happy about Hal being chosen by the ring and he wasn't shy about sharing those feelings.  Hal is a bit cocky at times, but likable overall. I did really like Ryan Reynolds in the part.

Overall I really enjoyed the movie and I'm sure I'll add it to my movie collection once it is out.

I did get a review posted at Epinions if anyone wants to take a look.

Cabin Fever 2, a review by addicted2dvd

Title: Cabin Fever 2
Year: 2009
Director: Ti West
Rating: R
Length: 86 Min.

Stars:
Alexi Wasser
Giuseppe Andrews
Michael Bowen
Judah Friedlander
Larry Fessenden

Plot:
Days after a killer virus consumed his friends, Paul emerges from a ditch by a river. Though his body has been ravaged by the virus, Paul is determined to survive - and to warn others of the danger. But a water bottling plant has already distributed contaminated water to the local high school. The school's students are excitedly preparing for the prom - unaware they're about to have a grisly date with death.

My Thoughts:
This one I watched on FearNET On-Demand. I really enjoyed the first Cabin Fever... but this one not so much. I am glad I watched this one on TV... as I do not see myself wanting to watch it again. The acting is bad... some of the effects are ok... but for the most part it was just projectile vomiting of blood and other garbage like that. I don't think I will bother adding this one to my collection.

On a side note. I remember now why I don't watch FearNET On-Demand as much as you would think. At all times there is a watermark of their channel in the lower right corner of the screen. That alone while aggravating... I can forgive. But the off and on through-out the entire movie they have little pop-up adds for other movies and such that take up most of the bottom of the screen. I realize this is considered a free channel... but I rather put up with commercial breaks over that garbage. If you are going to show a movie... don't paste crap over top the picture!

My Rating
Out of a Possible 5

An average episode with its moments. Though Willow with her withdrawal symptoms gets on my nerve.

6.13 Dead Things
Writer: Joss Whedon (Created By), Steven S. DeKnight (Writer), Joss Whedon (Writer)
Director: James A. Contner
Cast: Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy Summers), Nicholas Brendon (Xander Harris), Emma Caulfield (Anya), Michelle Trachtenberg (Dawn Summers), James Marsters (Spike), Alyson Hannigan (Willow Rosenberg), Danny Strong (Jonathan Levinson), Adam Busch (Warren Meers), Tom Lenk (Andrew Wells), Amelinda Embry (Katrina Silber), Amber Benson (Tara Maclay), Bernard K. Addison (Cop #1), Marion Calvert (Gina), Eric Prescott (Cop #2), Rock Reiser (Desk Sergeant)

Okay, but nothing which really stands out for me. The Geek trio are getting themselves deeper into the "dark side" then they would have like (at least Andrew and Jonathan).
