Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai, a review by addicted2dvdGhost Dog: Way of the Samurai East meets West in this hip-hop infused samurai-gangster pic in which Forest Whitaker plays a professional killer who goes by the name of Ghost Dog and who lives by the age-old code of the Samurai. When Ghost Dog's code is dangerously betrayed by the dysfunctional mafia family that occasionally employs him, he must find a way to defend himself without breaking the code of the Samurai. My Thoughts: This was a good movie... had a very strong story. I will admit that it wasn't exactly as I expected... as I was expecting more sword play and martial arts.... but for the most part he used a gun for everything. Not that I am complaining... was a really good movie... was just expecting something different is all. This is a movie that I got super cheap when the video store I worked for went out of business. So I got it for like $3.00... and was definitely worth every cent at that price! This DVD has been sitting on my unwatched shelf for about 4 or 5 years now... Wish I would have watched it sooner. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.35 Audio: German: Dolby Digital Mono, Spanish: Dolby Digital Mono, English: Dolby Digital Mono, Commentary: Dolby Digital Mono Subtitles: Danish, English, Finnish, German, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish Stars: Sean Connery Akiko Wakabayashi Mie Hama Tetsuro Tamba Teru Shimada Extras: Commentary Featurettes Photo Gallery Scene Access Trailers My Thoughts: I enjoyed this one. Maybe because I became interested in Japanese culture and most of the movie is set in Japan.I found it funny, that Bond was bragging about his language skills, but couldn't even pronounce Sayonara correctly But even Sake was mispronounced. Why is it, that in English language movies, foreign words almost always get an English touch in the pronounciation? Was it me, or did Connery fall back to his Scottish dialect for a line there? When he was talking with his "new wife". Rating: (From James Bond Marathon on February 23rd, 2009) "Due South" marathon, a review by RickThe Wild Bunch My favorite episode so far! Comedy, drama, suspense and action all rolled up into one. It would have made a good 2 part story. They could have expanded a bit on the other dogs missing and how Diefenbaker and his gang got involved and decided to take down the dog-napping ring. Rating The Blue Line Meh Not good, not bad, just there. Good to see Ray with his car again, although it does take a beating. Rating: (From "Due South" marathon on July 19th, 2009) |
