So when tabloid columnist Sara Melas (Eva Mendes, Stuck On You, Once Upon a Time in Mexico) decides to uncover the secret behind the tubby schlub's success, she's shocked to discover that Alex Hitchens, the charming young man she's been seeing, is the legendary date doctor himself. My Thoughts:
An enjoyable romantic comedy. Will Smith is great as the date doctor. Kevin James is also very fitting as the one needing help getting to date a woman usually out of his league. In my opinion he makes it believable that she could fall in love with him.
Otherwise it is standard fare without any surprises along the way.

1918, a review by Antares

1918 (1985) 2.5/5 - I can't for the life of me, understand how this film found the financing needed to be put into production. It's screenplay by Horton Foote is a hodgepodge of melodrama and unnecessary filler that at times reminded me of third rate Tennessee Williams. I know that Horton Foote was a hot commodity back in the mid-eighties with hits such as Tender Mercies and The Trip to Bountiful, but it seems as though he didn't quite know what to do with this story. Granted, the Spanish Flu epidemic of 1918 is probably not something that lends itself to nail-biting tension or deep rooted drama, but if you're going to use this theme, then keep it coherent. The screenplay moves too quickly for you to feel any compassion for its inhabitants, and leaves you feeling in the end, like they wheeled in a beautiful looking wedding cake that was made of 100% marzipan.

My Thoughts:
I just finished season 4... the last season that was given to me for Christmas to watch. Though I do have the next season already ordered to look forward to. Needless to say... I am still hooked on the series. The set is filled with good episodes... but even so... it was once again rather easy for me to pick a favorite episode. As they brought back the character of Mr. Yang from the previous season's finale for this season's finale. Letting us know that Mr. Yang had a partner that is still out there.... a Mr. Yin! And looking ahead to season five I see they are brought back for that season finale as well. Something more to look forward to as these episodes are arguably the best episodes of the entire series.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5
