Superman IV: The Quest for Peace
Christopher Reeve not only dons the title hero's cape for the fourth time but also helped develop the movie's provocative theme: nuclear disarmament. To make the world safe for nuclear arms merchants, 'Lex Luthor' (Gene Hackman) creates a new being to challenge the 'Man of Steel': the radiation-charged 'Nuclear Man' (Mark Pillow). The two foes clash in an explosive extravaganza that sees 'Superman' save the Statue of Liberty, plug a volcanic eruption of Mount Etna and rebuild the demolished Great Wall of China. Your quest for excitement is over.

My Thoughts:
This one on the other hand... this is my least favorite of all the Superman shows I ever seen... including movies, TV Series and animation! Even so it is Superman so there is some enjoyment... but not even close to any of the other movies or any of the other incarnations of Superman I have ever seen. I really can't put my finger on it... but this one is lacking a certain something that all the other movies has. I basically got this one in my collection just to complete the series of movies. It is not one I will watch often... but will watch every now and again.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button





Interesting production with very novel storyline, it is over-hyped, overly long and surprisingly well acclaimed critically, but never stretches itself from a good film to a great film. It reminded me a lot of Forrest Gump with the narrative voice-over, lead character in the middle of history, and very similar direction which was a surprise given Finchers previous movies. I believe both films have the same author?
Cate Blanchett and Brad Pitt are ideally cast, and do a good job breezing through the script. The supporting cast are also unilaterally excellent in their roles. The CGI and make-up are unbelievable and totally convincing, helping Pitt portray Benjamin at several ages.
This is traditional escapism with a simple story, a romantic drama with an unusual theme, well told and adequately acted, but for me on first viewing I did not fall overly in love with the whole picture.

VOY 3.04 The Swarm

My next theme: The pairing of Tom Paris and B'Elanna Torres (known in the fandom as "P/T"). This is my favorite canon Star Trek couple. I like how they slowly build it up in season 3 with few scenes thrown in in a couple of episodes. Sadly they neglected this pairing during season 5 and 6 but luckily made again some nice episodes in season 7. I will not watch every episode where those two share on-screen time, but will make a selection of episodes of which I remember they had some nice scenes between them.

One story in this episode is about the consequence of the Emergency Medical Hologram running longer than it is supposed to. The doctor's matrix is degrading. We get the chance to see the guy who has programmed him (Dr. Zimmerman) who looks exactly like the doctor. It's the good part about this episode. Robert Picardo is great playing the doctor having dementia. And he is also fun as Dr. Zimmerman.
With the other part, although nicely executed, I have a problem with: Who does Janeway think she is? The alien they encounter make it obvious, that they do no tolerate trespassers. But because it would take Voyager 15 months to go around they space (I assume they did consider 3D space ), she decides to risk the ship and go through their space. Also it seems a little strange, that going around that space would take 15 months, but going through it would only take 3 days.

P/T moment: In the beginning of the episode, Paris asks B'Elanna about her love life. And it also marks the first time (as far as I remember), that he hits on her.
