An enjoyable movie...though I did find it a little slow in parts. The entire cast did well... especially Charlton Heston was great. I can definitely see myself watching it again.

Dave, a review by DJ Doena

January, 13th

Director: Ivan Reitman

Kevin Kline    ...    Dave Kovic / Bill Mitchell
Sigourney Weaver   ...    Ellen Mitchell
Frank Langella   ...    Bob Alexander
Kevin Dunn   ...    Alan Reed
Ving Rhames   ...    Duane Stevenson
Ben Kingsley   ...    Vice-President Nance
Charles Grodin   ...    Murray Blum

Synopsis: Dave Kovic is a simple man who works in an agency that gives people jobs. But he also looks exactly like the President of the United States. One day the Secret Service hires him for a public appearance because the real President Bill Mitchell has "more important" things to do. But when Mitchell falls into a coma due to a stroke the chief advisor Bob Alexander engages Dave to play the President for real.

My Opinion: This is a great fun flick about American politics with all its aspects (like the budget, running campaigns and so on) and Dave pretending to be the President and getting used to the job. I liked all the characters in their roles, from the First Lady to the bodyguard and of course the villain of the piece - Bob Alexander (Skeletor in Masters of the Universe) but the scenes between Dave and Ellen I like the most because then it shows how different a man Dave is from Bill.

Warner Home Video (United States)
Length:587 min.

Audio:English: Dolby Digital 1
Subtitles:English, French, Spanish

Plot:
When a brash street kid from Philly moves to a Left Coast zip code even posher than 90210, cultures are sure to clash. But not to worry. The kid is Will Smith, and he'll have Bel-Air bustin' a move in no time! Smith was already a Grammy-winning rap artist when he shot to acting renown as the smart, wisecracking urban teen who's sent to live with wealthy relatives in an area so exclusive a former President drops in to share some Christmas cheer. This 2-disc DVD collection features lively bonus material plus all 24 Season-One Episodes, from Will's first day at the country club (which one is the fish fork?) to his first day at Bel-Air Prep School (sort of homeboy meets Harvard). When it comes to comedy, Fresh Prince rules!

Cast: Will Smith (Will Smith), James Avery (Philip Banks), Janet Hubert (Vivian Banks), Alfonso Ribiero (Carlton Banks), Karyn Parsons (Hilary Banks), Tatyana M. Ali (Ashley Banks), Joseph Marcell (Geoffrey), Helen Page Camp (Margaret), John Petlock (Henry Furth)

I can't help myself but always sing along with the opening theme. This series is nice, light-hearted fun. Will Smith will grow as an actor with this series until making his major break in motion pictures with Independence Day.
Considering that this series was his first acting job, he did really great in the pilot episode, in my opinion.
