George of the Jungle, a review by RichGeorge of the Jungle The clumsy ape man from Jay Ward's 1967 television cartoon takes on a jungle of another kind in live-action when he follows a visiting San Francisco resident back to the City by the Bay. There aren't as many trees, but he somehow manages to find plenty of other things to crash into--not the least of which are modern society's social norms. Tarzan send-up, slightly charming, but on the whole pretty silly and irrelevant. it is too slapstick and unintelligent even I would have thought for very young kids, but as an adult it is a pointless viewing. The elephant 'puppy' though was very funny. Fraser has improved since this outing - fortunately! Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.78:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital 5.1, Spanish: Dolby Digital 5.1, Portuguese: Dolby Digital 5.1, French: Dolby Digital Stereo Subtitles: Chinese, English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Thai Stars:Plot: After moving to an eerie old house in the country, nine-year-old super sleuth Roxy Hunter stumbles into a world filled with unsolved mysteries, secret plots and spooky spirits! Now, Roxy and her best friend and boy genius Max, must race to save their home, re-unite a lost love and uncover the true villain. Is it the Moody Ghost...or something even spookier? Extras: Scene Access Trailers Deleted Scenes Featurettes Music Videos Interviews Outtakes/Bloopers Closed Captioned My Thoughts: This is a movie I bought Brittany for her Birthday the other day. This is a TV Movie that originally aired on Nickelodeon. This movie is cute enough... and has a few laughs. But it is definitely geared more towards the kids then it is adults. Brittany enjoyed it quite a bit though so I am happy about that. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Addicted2DVD's November Alphabet Marathon on November 7th, 2009) Tom's TV Pilots marathon, a review by Tom
Plot: Newly graduated Kumiko Yamaguchi wants to make her mark on the Japanese educational system as a teacher. All well and good until she finds out that the school she'll be teaching at has its fair share of troublemakers and rabble-rousers. The ruffians at the school don't frighten her though for she has a secret of her own-she's a fourth generation crime syndicate member and next in line to head it up. She's gone straight and wants to be a teacher though, but she's one person in whose class you don't want to be caught fooling around! Gokusen 1.01 A zealous teacher goes on a rampage!! (2002-04-17) I like this live-action adaption even more than the anime. The actors are very well chosen and the comedy works. I always enjoy watching it (have done so multiple times now). The lead actress is the very definition of Hollywood Homely. Supposedly unattractive to the other characters, she is the hottest of them all. Of the main three female characters, I find the one, who is the supposed to be the most attractive, the least attractive of them (of course she still is beautiful).
