Rio, a review by Dragonfire

I went to see the animated movie Rio recently.

This is another one that is showing in 3D in some theaters.  I didn't see the 3D version and really don't think I missed anything.  The movie does look really good, full of bright, vibrant colors.  The bright colors really work for the movie.  At times, the birds do look more like they are covered in fur instead of feathers.  I'm not sure if that is realistic for birds or not.

The plot is entertaining and fairly simple, though it is still entertaining.  Much of what happens is predictable, and that could disappoint some people.  There are a few surprises that turn up without the movie being suspenseful.  A few things that happen might bother or upset younger viewers, but the movie is a good choice for families overall.  There is decent humor in the movie that doesn't resort to a lot of gross stuff.  Some of the humor is a bit silly, but it works for the movie.  There are a few songs without them over taking everything that is going on.  The songs are alright, though they really aren't memorable.

Overall, I really enjoyed Rio and think it is worth watching for people who like animated movies.

I did get a review posted on Epinions.

Review
       To Bill Hicks, the bleating of the P.C. sheep in this country was as annoying and painful as someone running their fingernails across a chalkboard. To this end, he would rail and rant against the corrupt machinations of a free enterprise system which has, in the last two and a half decades, run amok over the landscape of our nation. Hicks was not the typical comedian which had sprung up during the comedy club craze of the eighties. Foregoing gags, one-liners and shtick, he blazed a path which had not been trodden down since Lenny Bruce shocked audiences in the sixties. A good example of the difference between Hicks and his contemporaries is in the following exchange between Hicks and his audience;

       Bill Hicks:
Audience: A few drunken patrons scream out in acknowledgement
       Bill Hicks:

The audience bursts into a spontaneous round of applause and laughter. Now most comedians would have segued-wayed into their next bit with that question, but not Hicks, he could see the hypocrisy and lack of ethical honesty in these professions and in a comical way would deal with them on his terms.

- The pinnacle of film perfection and excellence.
- Not quite an immortal film, yet a masterpiece in its own right.
- Historically important film, considered a classic.
- Borderline viewable.
- A gangrenous and festering pustule in the chronicles of celluloid.

Smallville Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Season 1: Disc 6:

21. TEMPEST
A reporter closes in on Clark's secret: Chloe may depart Smallville: LuthorCorp is forced to close. At least the school dance will provide carefree moments for Clark and his friends. Then the twister hits.

My Thoughts:
What a great way to end the first season! The twister scene was amazing! And of course it has plenty of cliffhangers leaving you wanting to see what will happen next!

Over-All Season 1 Thoughts:
I tell you... I forgot just how much the first season was Freak of the Week episodes. I also forgot how fun this first season actually was... It is no wonder that Smallville became such a big of a hit as it did. It started off much stronger then I remembered and in my opinion is still going strong after 6 season! Now to get off here and start season 2!  :)
