Man of the House, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Tommy Lee Jones as Roland Sharp Cedric the Entertainer as Percy Stevens Christina Milian as Anne Paula Garces as Teresa Monica Keena as Evie Vanessa Ferlito as Heather Plot: When five perky cheerleaders witness the murder of a drug bust informant, they require 'round-the-clock surveillance to keep from being the next victims. Enter tough-as-nails Texas Ranger Lt. Roland Sharp (Tommy Lee Jones), who masquerades as their assistant coach and camps out in their campus digs. But these feisty foxes just want to have fun, and the buttoned-down Sharp learns it's no easy task to keep the uncontrollable coeds in line and out of harm's way. Cedric the Entertainer joins this spirited cast in a comedy that busts out with high energy, pride, and the joy of a Texas Ranger getting in touch with his feminine side. Extras:
My Thoughts: I have been a fan of Tommy Lee Jones for a while now. I have enjoyed everything I have seen him in so far. Whether it is his serious roles or the comedies he has been in. This film was recommended to me years ago by a friend... and finally got it as a gift this past month as a yuletide gift. I found this one to be a fun comedy... though not one of his best. It is fun seeing him deal with the college girls... and the story keeps my interest from the beginning to the end. But I do think it could have been a little better. Over-all it is worth the time put in to watch it. I am glad it is finally in my collection. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From What Movies I Been Watching on January 4th, 2013) Angels & Demons, a review by RichAngels & Demons Tom Hanks and Ron Howard unite for their fourth pairing with this follow-up to THE DA VINCI CODE. Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) works to solve a murder and prevent a terrorist act against the Vatican. The follow on from Da Vinci Code, lacking the originals controversy, and straying further from the book than I would have liked. It is very current, utilising the Hadron Collider in it's old age look at Religion vs Science. As expected it is a good blend of action and adventure, limitless budget allowing for some spectacular shots and effects, an impressive cast list, and direction/production values we have got used to with Howards films. The film is more suspenseful than DVC, it feels more 'real', and the twist near the end was well crafted. McGregor stood out for me as the best actor, but it is hard to point a finger at any who under-performed. But the ending (click to show/hide) Certainly it is a 'must' in most dvd collections, but it will never be the greatest. Jack Bauer, head of the CIA's Los Angeles Counter Terrorist Unit, is suddenly thrust into a chaotic and exhausting 24-hour marathon of death, deception and terror as he struggles to prevent the assassination of a presidential candidate, find the traitor within his own organization, and save his kidnapped wife and daughter. 12:00 AM - 1:00 AM Moments after discovering his daughter Kimberly has snuck out of the house, Jack Bauer is called into work. As head of the CIA's Los Angeles Counter Terrorist Unit office, he's told that an assassination attempt will be made on the life of presidential candidate David Palmer and it's up to his team of agents to keep Palmer alive. Meanwhile, Jack's wife, Teri, also sets out to find their daughter. My Thoughts: This is a great start to the series. I really enjoyed every minute of watching it again. A good introduction to the characters and an interesting story. The main drawback to watching this type of series for this type of marathon is the fact that after watching the pilot episode you really don't want to stop.
