"Rocky Horror meets Blade Runner" was Bousman's (of the Saw franchise) own pitch for the movie. The latter can indeed been seen as a an influence on the visual style, the comparison with the former is only wishful thinking of the "this will be cult" variety. A more apt musical point of reference would be Sondheim (may he forgive me), with the atonal music and the sung dialogue. But the music is rather dull and the lyrics are really, really aweful. And while the overall visual style has some appeal, Bousman is a lousy director, who often goes for largely static arrangements that resemble bad music videos more than anything else.

Plot:
Blumhouse (Split, Get Out, Whiplash) produces this original and inventive rewinding thriller in which a blissfully self-centered co-ed (Jessica Rothe, La La Land) is doomed to relive the day of her murder unless she can identify her masked assailant and hopefully stop the madness. If she can't, she will be stuck in an insane loop, reliving a ghoulish nightmare that has become her death day.

This film was a pleasant surprise for me. While I have always liked time loop movies (Groundhog Day, etc.) I was a little nervous about this one going just by the trailer. After watching it I found that I liked the characters, the storyline kept my interest and last but not least they killed her off in some crative ways.I can easily see myself watching this one again.
