Sleepaway Camp III: Teenage Wasteland, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: Sleepaway Camp III: Teenage Wasteland Year: 1988 Director: Michael A. Simpson Rating: R Length: 79 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.78:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital Mono, Commentary: Dolby Digital Stereo Subtitles: Stars: Pamela Springsteen as Angela Tracy Griffith as Marcia Michael J. Pollard as Herman Mark Oliver as Tony Haynes Brooke as Bobby Plot:Extras: Scene Access Audio Commentary Trailers Deleted Scenes Featurettes Gallery My Thoughts: Well... they at least they did keep the same actress to play Angela this time. This one is similar in style to the second one as well. Though it does seem like it is starting to run out of steam a bit... this one is enjoyable. Just not as much as either of the previous two. Unlike the previous couple though... most of the time when they did a killing they didn't actually show the gore. They cut away for some reason. But either way... it is definitely worth the time to watch it. And a nice selection of extras. Including a couple DVD Easter Eggs you can spend a little time looking for. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Weekend Movie Marathon: 2/19 - 2/21 on February 19th, 2010) Masaļ: Les guerriers de la pluie, a review by Danae CassandraWhere We Are: Kenya wikipedia Year of Release: 2005 Starring: Ngotiek Ole Mano, Paul Nteri Ole Sekenan, Parkasio Ole Muntet, Musurpei Ole Toroge, Swakei Kiplosh Directed By: Pascal Plisson Genre: Adventure Overview:My Thoughts: First, I should say, yes this is technically a French film since the production companies are French. However, I'm counting as Kenyan since it not only was filmed in Kenya but also all the actors are Maasai, it's a look at their traditional way of life, was developed in partnership with their community, and is spoken in Maa. So I'm counting it for Kenya (however, for sticklers with my marathon here, I also watched the short film Pumzi which is from a Kenyan production company). We enjoyed this film quite a lot. It was beautifully filmed, definitely showing Plisson's nature documentary background and showcasing the gorgeous African savanna that the Maasai inhabit. The actors, while undoubtedly amateurs, all did good work and it was interesting to see their characters develop over the film. It's a story of initiation and courage, and learning to work together and make sacrifices for the greater good. In that respect it has a lot of positive messages to share with viewers. It's also a look at a traditional African way of life, uncluttered by questions of modernism, colonialism, or westernization. It has a rich, authentic, ancient feel to it, and I'd recommend it to anyone. It's also suitable for family viewing with anyone old enough to read subtitles. Bechdel Test: Fail Overall: 3.5/5 (From Around the World in 86 Movies on April 8th, 2013) Smallville: The Complete First Season, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Tom Welling as Clark Kent Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lang Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor Eric Johnson as Whitney Fordman Sam Jones III as Pete Ross Allison Mack as Chloe Sullivan My Thoughts: A couple days ago the mood hit for me to watch some Smallville again. So I pulled out the first season set. Watched the entire set in 2 days! Now does that mean I will watch the entire series again... I don't know... after all there is 10 seasons. But I did already start the second season. I must say I enjoyed revisiting the first season episodes again. The entire cast looks so young! But that is to be expected from a series that lasted so long. Chloe remains my favorite character. But they are all good. I really didn't care for the portrayal of Lex Luthor early in the series.... don't know why, just expected something different I guess. But he quickly grew on me. A very good start to an excellent series! My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Addicted2dvd's Random TV Series Watched on July 31st, 2013) |
