Extras: Scene Access Audio Commentary Feature Trailers Featurettes Production Notes Interactive Games Closed Captioned My Thoughts: First time I ever seen this one. I know I was in the middle of my Sandra Bullock movie marathon... but how could I say no when Britt asked me to watch a movie with her? This one definitely has some laughs in it. So I thought it was pretty good. Definitely worth checking out! My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From What Movies I Been Watching on July 27th, 2010) Blue Steel, a review by addicted2dvdBlue Steel When Sheriff Jake sees a man at the safe and then finds the payroll gone, he trails him. Just as he is about to arrest him, the man saves his life. Still suspicious, he joins up with the man and later they learn that Melgrove, the towns leading citizen, is trying to take over the area's ranches by having his gang stop all incoming supply wagons. With the ranchers about to sell to Melgrove, the two newcomers say they will bring in provisions. My Thoughts: Another from the 20 Great Westerns boxset I got from the Walmart Bargain Bin. This movie stars John Wayne in one of his earlier roles. Also in this one is George Hayes and Eleanor Hunt. Though I am not familiar with them. While I enjoyed the other John Wayne movie I watched (Winds of the Wasteland) quite a bit... this one not so much. It just wasn't nearly as entertaining for me. The quality wasn't up there either. Some scenes the audio and video was very good... but in other scenes there was a lot of dust and scratches... and there as a low hissing in the audio. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Weekend Movie Marathon: Western Round-Up on July 12th, 2009) My PILOT Marathon, a review by RichKingpin Pilot As the family leader Tio Jorge deteriorates in exile, the next generation of a powerful drug cartel family strategizes to take over 'La Corporacion', a multi-million dollar business. Stanford-educated Miguel Cadena is poised to take the reigns, but Jorge's son Ernesto presents a challenge that requires the efforts of Miguel as well as his brother Chato and wife Marlene to confront. Meanwhile, DEA agent Delia Flores faces setbacks as she works her contacts within the drug world to close in on the massive cartel. After the death of his drug lord uncle, Stanford-educated Mexican-American businessman (Yancey Arias) finds himself in the position of the leader of his criminal family. Throughout their dealings, he and his wife (Sheryl Lee) attempt to keep the facts of their business away from their 8-year-old son while they dodge the efforts of relentless U.S. authorities who want to take them down. Originally aired on US television, this six-part mini series, from NYPD BLUE writer/producer David Mills, received critical acclaim. Overly glitzy, Hollywood glamour taken to mexico gangsters, this felt a bit too unbelievable and the leads were much too clean and perfect. It was pretty graphic in places, the violence stronger than I anticipated, and the backdrops expensive and locations varied. Unsure whether this is a stinker or a hit, will need to view a few more of these and see how the finale from the pilot evolves. (From My PILOT Marathon on September 28th, 2009) |
