The Mask of Zorro, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: The Mask of Zorro Year: 1998 Director: Martin Campbell Rating: PG-13 Length: 137 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.35:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: Dolby Surround, English: Dolby Digital: 5.1 Subtitles: English Stars: Jose Maria de Tavira Deigo Sieres Emiliano Guerra Yolanda Orizaga Paco Morayta William Marquez Plot: The original Zorro, Don Diego de la Vega, is captured and imprisoned just as Spain concedes California to Santa Anna. 20 years go by and his mortal enemy, Don Rafael Montero, returns to California with a plan to become wealthy at the expense of the peasants. The story of an aging blade (Anthony Hopkins) passing along his wisdom and his edge to an angry young thief (Antonio Banderas). The young Zorro learns about politics, love, and war, at the feet of his teacher. His quest for personal revenge gives fire to his role as Colonial Mexico's most swashbuckling activist, one who must fight for his country and his woman (the ravishing newcomer Catherine Zeta-Jones, also quite handy with a sword). Extras: Scene Access Feature Trailers Featurettes Gallery Closed Captioned THX My Thoughts: I decided to watch this movie mainly for the fact that I never seen the sequel... The Legend of Zorro... even though I have owned it for almost a year now (got it for my birthday last year). Since I plan on watching it here soon I wanted to remind myself of this one first. I must say... I forgot how much fun this movie is. I enjoyed it quite a bit. It has plenty of good action/adventure as well as just the right amount of comedy mixed in. The movie is also well paced... you never feel the least bit bored while watching. And the entire cast does a great job. And of course Catherine Zeta-Jones looked just amazing. This is one I definitely feel comfortable recommending. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From The Movies From Within My Lifetime on April 21st, 2011) Roman Holiday, a review by addicted2dvd

My Thoughts: This one I really enjoyed. I liked all the characters and it has a good story. I definitely felt Hepburn did a wonderful job in this one. I couldn't imagine the role being done any better. Peck was also good here. I knew the character would do what was right in the end... so I can't say it wasn't predictable. But even being predictable the story keeps you invested through-out with ease. This one is definitely worth the time put in to watch it. Untouched Original Air Date: 10/17/2000 Angel unknowingly crosses paths with Wolfram and Hart when he comes to the aid of a young woman, Bethany , who possesses telekinetic powers far beyond her control. Guest Stars: Julie Benz Stephanie Romanov Sam Anderson Daisy McCrackin My Thoughts: Not a bad episode. But not great either. While the storyline was entertaining to a point... I found I really didn't care for the Bethany character enough to really get into it. My Rating: (From Angel Marathon on March 2nd, 2010) |
