Idiocracy , a review by Tom
Stars: Luke Wilson as Joe Bauers Maya Rudolph as Rita Dax Shepard as Frito Terry Alan Crews as President Camacho Anthony "Critic" Campos as Secretary of Defense Plot: From Mike Judge, one of the creative minds who brought you Beavis and Butt-Head, King Of The Hill and Office Space, comes an outrageous sci-fi comedy that'll make you think twice about the future of mankind. Meet Joe Bowers (Luke Wilson). He's not the sharpest tool in the shed. But when a government hibernation experiment goes awry, Bowers awakens in the year 2505 to find a society so dumbed-down by mass commercialism and mindless TV programming that he's become the smartest guy on the planet. Now it's up to an average Joe to get human evolution back on track! Filled with razor-sharp sarcasm and outrageous sight gags, Idiocracy will make you laugh out loud whether you're an absolute genius or a complete idiot! Awards: Nominated:

My Thoughts: My brother had stumbled across this one. I think while browsing tvtropes.org. As the premise sounded interesting, I had ordered it.It started as an average but enjoyful comedy. At half-time it had become too stupid for its own good. In the end I would say, this movie can be enjoyed but don't expect something thought-provoking Rating: (From Tom's Time-Travel Movie Reviews on January 5th, 2011) Frankenstein (1931), a review by Tom

My Thoughts: I enjoyed this one more than Dracula. A well done movie. And Boris Karloff is great as the monster.Rating: (From Tom's 2013 Horror Marathon on October 14th, 2013) Pete's Pilots, a review by addicted2dvdThe 4400 Over the last century, thousands of people have gone missing. Suddenly and inexplicably, 4400 missing people are returned all at once, as they were on the day they vanished. Unclear what this world-altering event means, the government investigates the 4400 to piece together where they've been and why they've been returned. It quickly becomes apparent that their presence will change the human race in ways no one could have ever foreseen. Pilot Everyone on Earth is excited about a comet passing by, but as soon as its trajectory changes to a collision course everyone starts to panic. The comet turns out to be a giant ball of light that when explodes it leaves behind 4400 people. They are missing persons who have been gone from a few months to 60 years and none have aged a day. The 4400 are put in quarantine and eventually released. Some of the returnees begin to exhibit strange and uncontrollable new abilities. Tom Bishop and Diana Skouris, two Homeland Security agents, are appointed to find out what happened to the 4400. My Thoughts: This is one of those series that while it is good... it is not one I would call a favorite. As of yet I still only have the very short (5 episodes) 1st season set. I don't know what problem I have with it... as it is a good premise and for the most part the characters are likable. But for some reason I tend to get a little bored watching this show. And I never have the urge to watch the next episode right away when I watch one like I do on most series. My Rating: (From Pete's Pilots on October 26th, 2009) |
