My Thoughts:
This is a movie I have seen before... but not since getting the DVD recently. It is the first time I seen it since it originally came out. I did buy a DVD used from a local video store before it went out of business... but unfortunately the copy that I bought was messed up pretty bad and you could barely watch the disc. But thankfully a friend had an extra copy they could send me to replace it with.

Before watching Showtime I looked up some reviews to see what other people were saying about this one. It quickly became apparent that it isn't much liked. Which I just don't understand. As I really did enjoy every minute of it. Sure it isn't an award winning... thought provoking epic. But in my opinion it does what it sets out to do... and does it well. It entertains. Sometimes just a fun... leave your brain at the door... popcorn flick is all you need. And Showtime is just that. This is of course one of those buddy cop movies with lots of action and a good amount of laughs. I thought DeNiro and Murphy made a great team. I have always liked both actors. Murphy is funny as always... and DeNiro is as enjoyable as always. Being able to do comedy as well as he can the serious work. I think if you are looking for just a fun way to escape real life for 90 minutes this is a good way to do so.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

Take Shelter, a review by Silence_of_Lambs

Take Shelter

Summary:
Plagued by a series of apocalyptic visions, a young husband and father (Michael Shannon) questions whether to shelter his family from a coming storm, or from himself.

My Thoughts:
This movie comes like a hard punch into the belly.

Don't want to say to much about the storyline, because this is too easily spoilered.
In fact there is not much happening in this film, it is more a very intense character-study (brilliantly delivered by Michael Shannon) of a man threatened by either the Apocalypse or mental insanity.

But the way how things do not happen is simply breathtaking, the pictures are of an enormous intensity and beauty.
The acting is of an intensity you don't often get to see nowadays.

Give it a try it's worth it.
The trailer already gives a good hint on the oppressive atmosphere of this film.

My Rating: (out of possible 5)

Firefly Marathon, a review by Tom

07. Jaynestown
Writer: Ben Edlund (Writer)
Director: Marita Grabiak
Cast: Nathan Fillion (Mal), Gina Torres (Zoe), Alan Tudyk (Wash), Morena Baccarin (Inara), Adam Baldwin (Jayne), Jewel Staite (Kaylee), Sean Maher (Simon), Summer Glau (River), Ron Glass (Shepherd Book), Gregory Itzin (Magistrate Higgins), Daniel Bess (Mudder), Kevin Gage (Stitch Hessian), Zachary Kranzier (Fess Higgins), Jordan Lund (Foreman), Bob McCracken (Well-Dressed Man), Ronald Craig Williams (Busker), John Jabaley (Bartender), Laura Niemi (Woman), Simon Brooke (Prod), Clement E. Blake (Mudder Elder)

A lot of great moments. I love the scenes between River and Book. How River is trying to fix the bible :)
And all that hair!
And I also like the Jayne storyline, where a town is celebrating him as a hero. Really funny is the scene where the crew learn about this while listening to the Jayne-Song.
