All Over Me, a review by TomTitle: All Over Me Year: 1997 Director: Alex Sichel Rating: FSK-12 Length: 95 Min. Video: Full Frame 1.33:1 Audio: German: Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround, English: Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround Subtitles: Stars: Alison Folland Tara Subkoff Cole Hauser Wilson Cruz Leisha Hailey Plot: If you've forgotten what it's like to be fifteen, it all comes crashing back in this wonderfully edgy look at the relationship between a sensitive, vulnerable young girl named Claude (Boys Don't Cry's Alison Foland) and her beautiful, quick-witted best friend Ellen (Freeway's Tara Subkoff). Filmed on the streets of New York City, this raw and realistic account follows an adolescent girl's struggle to find friendship and love in a world where kids don't count. Crossing the line between sexuality and friendship, innocent discovery and lifelong regret, she discovers what coming of age is really about. Awards:

Better than most other low-budget lesbian movies.Leisha Hailey (Alice from The L Word) appears as the second love interest. Rating: (From Lesbian Movie Marathon on July 3rd, 2010) Road to Singapore, a review by Danae CassandraRoad to Singapore Year of Release: 1940 Directed By: Victor Schertzinger Starring: Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Dorothy Lamour Genre: Comedy, Romance, Musical Overview:Road to SingaporeSingapore was the initial entry in the legendary Hope-Crosby-Lamour Road series that delighted movie goers for over 20 fun-filled years. My Thoughts: This is a fun bit of funny, escapist fluff. Our heroes, two chaps looking for nothing but good times, run away from marriage, work and high society to live as island bums. There they meet a girl who just might make them change their bachelor ways, if only she didn't make them both feel that way. The jokes are funny, and Crosby and Hope have great chemistry together and their banter is clever. Lamour works well with both of them, and is probably about as believably exotic as they were going to cast in 1940. It feels like there are a lot of songs for the short runtime, but other than that, no complaints. If you're looking for an amusing little film, and you like old movies, Bing Crosby and/or Bob Hope, this isn't a bad choice. Bechdel Test: Fail Overall: 3/5 (From Road to Singapore on May 18th, 2014) Tom's Glee Marathon, a review by TomGlee Season 1.20 Theatricality Writer: Ryan Murphy (Created By), Brad Falchuk (Created By), Ian Brennan (Created By), Ryan Murphy (Writer) Director: Ryan Murphy Cast: Dianna Agron (Quinn Fabray), Chris Colfer (Kurt Hummel), Jessalyn Gilsig (Terri Schuester), Jane Lynch (Sue Sylvester), Jayma Mays (Emma Pillsbury), Kevin McHale (Arty Abrams), Lea Michele (Rachel Berry), Cory Monteith (Finn Hudson), Matthew Morrison (Will Schuester), Amber Riley (Mercedes Jones), Mark Salling (Noah "Puck" Puckerman), Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina Cohen-Chang), Idina Menzel (Shelby Corcoran), Iqbal Theba (Principal Figgins), Mike O'Malley (Burt Hummel), Romy Rosemont (Carole Hudson), Naya Rivera (Santana Lopez), Max Adler (Dave Karofsky), Josh Sussman (Jacob Ben Israel), James Earl (Azimio), Heather Morris (Brittany Pierce), Harry Shum, Jr. (Mike Chang), Dijon Talton (Matt Rutherford), Ashley Fink (Lauren Zizes), Hayley Holmes (Liz Schneider) I enjoyed this episode. Burt the man: I think I have to make it its own category. Burt (Kurt's father) again steals the show. The scene were he is dressing down Finn to defend his son is great. Notable music: In this episode they did Lady Gaga and Kiss songs. I never saw the appeal of Lady Gaga. I never really got into her music. But since I saw some song of hers covered on Glee, I began to appreciate them more. Though I still haven't gone out to buy her music. But I have to say, that I really love the cover of "Poker Face" in this episode. I enjoy it a lot more than the original song. It is sung here by Rachel and Shelby: "Bad Romance" was also okay: Rating: (From Tom's Glee Marathon on September 18th, 2012) |
