24: Redemption, a review by addicted2dvd

Weekend Movie Marathon
1/16 - 1/18
Once again it is time to do my Weekend Movie Marathon. I am not doing any type of theme this weekend. I will be just watching whatever movie I am in the mood for... when I am in the mood for it. I am not expecting to get as many watched this weekend since I am getting a late start... but I wanted to finish the season set I was watching before starting my marathon. So this weekend I watched...

24: Redemption

My Thoughts:
I wanted to watch this movie because I just finished watching season 6 before starting this marathon... and I wanted to watch this movie next so I could start on the season 7 episodes I have recorded. I really enjoyed watching this movie. It was a little weird to see 24 in a movie format but I think they did a good job doing it. I am glad this one had Tony Todd (Candyman) in it... as I have become a fan of his over the past several years. The storyline involving the child soldiers in Africa was heartbreaking to say the least. Now I am ready to start the new season!

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, a review by RossRoy

Well, first movie watched for 2011 is

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
WHAT THEY SAY
Game on! Scott Pilgrim just met the girl of his dreams.....literally. But in order for them to date, he must defeat her seven evil exes – a rogues' gallery – including an infamous skateboarder, a vegan rock star and fearsome identical twins! From the genre-smashing director of Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead comes "a true original" (Entertainment Weekly) powered up by wit, action and groundbreaking visuals that you will want to watch again as soon as it's over!

MY THOUGHTS
Man I don't know if I'm just getting old or if maybe I wasn't in the right mood but.. this movie was so loud! Not only volume wise. It was like a full on assault on the senses.

At the beginning, I loved it. From the 8-bit Universal logo and music, to the comic book/gaming look. The fights are great and completely over the top, in a good way. The humour the action it's all good.

But clocking in at 2 hours, with not a single moment of rest? It becomes an unstoppable locomotive of overly loud sounds, overly bright images. I feel it's way overdone.

This movie would've been absolutely perfect... if I was still in my late teens / early 20s. Now? There was a time during the movie i was hoping to get the need to pee just so I could pause it for few a minutes to take a breath..

Pete's Pilots, a review by addicted2dvd

MacGyver

Pilot
A mysterious explosion demolishes and underground lab. Can MacGyver single-handedly rescue the trapped scientists, and stop a deadly chemical leak?

My Thoughts:
This show is a weird case to me. It is a show I enjoy watching quite a bit really. But for some reason it is a show that is out of site out of mind. For some reason I don't go through the episodes of this show like I do most. More like I will get in the mood to watch some episodes. I will usually watch a handful of episodes and then forget about the series for a year or two. This is probably why I only have the first couple seasons of the series so far... though I would like to have them all. The pilot episode is a good introduction to the character. Of course you feel like... Yeah... right... like that would really work (in this case stopping an acid leak with chocolate bars)... but I think that is part of the fun of the series. Just to see the outrageous things he comes up with.

my Rating:
