Savage Grace, a review by KinkyCyborgSavage Grace Title:Savage Grace Year: 2007 Director: Tom Kalin Rating: NR Length: 98 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 5.1 Subtitles: English, Spanish Stars: Julianne Moore Stephen Dillane Eddie Redmayne Anne Reid Martin Huber Plot:Extras: Scene Access Feature Trailers Featurettes My Thoughts: Very bizarre and disturbing movie. Based on a the true story of the prestigious Baekeland family, founders of Bakelite plastics. A more screwed up family you'll likely never encounter as adultery, paranoia, dementia and incest were common, ongoing themes throughout the movie. I'll certainly give it marks for uniqueness... can't say I've seen a movie that even remotely resembled this but I mostly disliked it. Not for the subject matter, but for the wandering lack of direction that left me mostly baffled. Even when the son performs his concluding act I still couldn't figure out how the hell it even reached a conclusion. Too chaotic for me. I believe director Tom Kalin was going for the shock factor and had he been more purposeful with his storytelling he might have achieved it but overall this was an awful mess. Stars: Dylan Bruno as Willy Jack Pickens Ray Prewitt as Tim Laura House as Nicki Karey Green as Rhonda Natalie Portman as Novalee Nation Plot: Ashley Judd and Natalie Portman star in this offbeat, delicious slice of life about a down-on-her-luck southern teen who, after gaining 15 minutes of fame for giving birth to "The Wal-Mart Baby", begins to put her life together with the help of the kind, quirky strangers who become her surrogate family. Based on the #1 best-selling novel by Billie Letts, this "brilliantly funny, deeply moving, beautifully acted" (KNX/CBS Radio) film co-stars Stockard Channing and Joan Cusack in an inspiring celebration of love and friendship. The two hours ran by fast. Also Ashley Judd did a good job, but it was a little unrealisitic for her character to have five children and still have this great figure. I wonder from where the cover is. It looks like it is for another movie. Ashley Judd, for example, was blonde in this movie. Ice Original Air Date: November 5, 1993 Mulder, Scully and team of doctors and scientists go to Alaska and investigate a parasitic wormlike creature which alters behaviour and eventually leads to death. Guest Stars: Xander Berkeley as Dr. Hodge Felicity Huffman as Dr. DaSilva Steve Hytner as Dr. Danny Murphy Jeff Kober as Bear Ken Kirzinger as Richter Sonny Surowiec as Campbell My Thoughts: Look Emma!.... I made it tonight! Setting up this episode to review... I never realized till today that Felicity Huffman (Sports Night/Desperate Housewives) was in this episode. Somehow I didn't recognize her in the episode itself. It really is an excellent episode. Interesting story... like the whole no place to go escape to thing. I had to laugh when they decided they had to check their bodies for signs of infection... in front of each other. And Mulder came out with... "Before anyone passes any judgments... let me remind you... we are in the arctic." But as I said... this is an excellent episode... probably one of the best of the first season!
