Dans l'Oeil du chat, a review by Eric

Dans l'Oeil du chat

Summary: Pauline went on a trip from which she never came back.  Her fiance, Simon, will do anything to find her until he learns that she was found dead in some distant country but as he's emptying her apartment he begins finding troubling information.

My thoughts:  The story is very good, well written and the viewer doesn't really get what's happened to Pauline until the end of the movie.  The visual side however is not very interesting in my opinion.  Most (if not all) of the movie takes place in Pauline's apartment but it's not very appealing.  It's much like a Peace & Love apartment of the 60's with strange colors and dark rooms.  I think the story would have been better served by giving it a more "modern" flavor.

My score:  Overall it is still a good movie, I don't regret buying it.  Would probably watch again.

Chantal, a review by RossRoy

Chantal
WHAT THEY SAY

MY THOUGHTS
This is the kind of movie I had a hard time saying that I like it. It is not the kind of movie you "like". It's the kind of movie that "is".

What I mean is this movie is brutal. Not because it is bad, but because it tells such a sad story, with no embellishment whatsoever. The movie tells it like it is, and is pretty straightforward in its narrative.

The movie is about a sweet, innocent young girl who gets to Hollywood with big hopes of becoming a movie star... and it turns out bad. Really bad. The sad part is, I have no problem imagining that what is presented here, is the lot of many young hopefuls. The harsh reality can be so far from the idealistic view young hopefuls can have of Hollywood.

Same as with The Seduction of Misty Mundae, I'm impressed with Misty Mundae. She again gives a great performance as Chantal, our titular character. The photoshoot sequence is particularly powerful. The supporting cast is just that, supportive. This is Misty Mundae's show, and she pulls it off well.

This movie actually reminds me of Irreversible in some ways. It presents a brutal, discomforting situation with no artifices. The camera is just an eye showing you the suffering of a character. The photoshoot scene here in Chantal felt very reminiscent of the rape scene in Irreversible in the power and brutality of the imagery.

Angel Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Angel: Season 1

17. Eternity
Original Air Date: 4/4/2000
A young actress seeking protection from a stalker takes a sudden personal interest in Angel after she discovers he's a vampire.

Guest Stars:
Tamara Gorski
Michael Mantell
Robin Meyers

My Thoughts:
A good episode... though it does start out a little slow. And the whole star wanting to be a vampire to stay looking young is a  story that was told before... more then once. But entertaining all the same. And it really picked up when Angel gets drugged... awakening Angelus. That is the part that saved this episode for me.

My Rating:
