Spider-Man, a review by DJ DoenaJune, 17th Tobey Maguire ... Spider-Man / Peter Parker Willem Dafoe ... Green Goblin / Norman Osborn Kirsten Dunst ... Mary Jane Watson James Franco ... Harry Osborn Cliff Robertson ... Ben Parker Rosemary Harris ... May Parker J.K. Simmons ... J. Jonah Jameson Ted Raimi ... Hoffman Bruce Campbell ... Ring Announcer Synopsis: Peter Parker is a young high school student when he's bitten by a genetically enhanced spider at a research facility. His DNA is rewritten and he becomes stronger, faster, he can climb walls and shoot spider threads from his wrists. After he has made a terrible mistake that cost his uncle his life he decides to use his new powers to help people: He becomes Spider-Man. But where there's a hero, there's a villain: The Green Goblin. My Opinion: I love this movie, it's great. All the actors did a marvellous job, especially Tobey and Willem - I loved Willem Dafoe in the scenes where he "talked" to the Goblin and I really liked this bitter ending where he (Peter) has to decide to stay alone in order to not endanger the people he loves and cares for. "Whatever life holds in store for me, I will never forget these words: 'With great power comes great responsibility.' This is my gift. My curse. Who am I? I am Spider-Man!". *awesome* (From DJ Doena's movie watchings 2009 on June 19th, 2009) A Christmas Story, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: A Christmas Story: 20th Anniversary: Two-Disc Special Ed. In 1940s Indiana, nine-year-old Ralphie (Peter Billingsley) dreams of his ideal Christmas gift: a genuine Red Ryder 200-shot Carbine Action Air Rifle. But when gruff dad (Darren McGavin) and doting mom (Melinda Dillion) regularly respond with "You'll shoot your eye out!" Ralphie mounts a full-scale Santa-begging campaign. He encounters a slew of calamities from snowsuit paralysis to the dreaded tongue-on-a-frozen-flagpole gambit. We triple-dog-dare you to unwrap a more welcome Yuletide classic! Extras: Scene Access Audio Commentary Feature Trailers Featurettes Interactive Games Interviews Closed Captioned Radio Readings by Jean Sheppard My Thoughts: While I have seen small bits and pieces of this movie on cable over the years... this is actually the first time I got to see this one from start to finish. It is a fun movie... I definitely enjoyed it. Though from all the years of hearing about this one... I think I was expecting more from it... and felt it didn't live up to it's reputation for me. But it definitely had some decent laughs in it. OMG... that terrible gift from his aunt... the bunny pajamas... and the fact that his mother liked it so much was scary as well. I do think the story was over exaggerated... but I believe that was on purpose. After all it was supposed to be a guy telling the story about a childhood Christmas. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Addicted2DVD's 25 Days of Christmas Marathon: 2010 on December 17th, 2010) Ghost Whisperer: The Complete First Season, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Jennifer Love Hewitt as Melinda Gordon Aisha Tyler as Andrea Moreno David Conrad as Jim Clancy Extras:
My Thoughts: This is the series that made me a fan of Jennifer Love Hewitt. I think she was just fantastic in this series. As was Aisha Tyler and David Conrad. This first season stuck more to the drama... it isn't until later seasons that they explored the more spooky storylines such a series can do. I really enjoyed most all the episodes in this season. And the season ends with a bang. Though I must admit the big surprise they had for the end of the first season I seen coming from a mile away. Even the first time I saw the 2 part season finale when it originally aired I told my whole family what I thought (as the whole family loved this show from the start) in part one of the finale. They all thought I was nuts... but at the end of part two they all seen I was right. If you never seen this series before I definitely highly recommend it. Some of my favorite episodes from the first season...- Pilot - Lost Boys - Melinda's First Ghost - Free Fall - The One My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Addicted2dvd's Random TV Series Watched on November 24th, 2013) |
