The Sorority, a review by Danae CassandraThe Sorority Year of Release: 2006 Directed By: Bodie Norton Starring: April Cook, L. Michael Burt, Deirdre Kristen Williams, Peter Washington Genre: Horror Overview: A small college town is gripped in terror as coeds are being found burned alive. Carved into their charred remains are the words "Join or die". The police has no leads, but when a student discovers that the hottest sorority on campus is actually a coven of devil worshipers, she's brutally murdered by the Satanic witches. At the student's graveside her sister vows revenge and sets out to make things right. Hunter becomes the hunted as she fights her way through a maze of Satanic rituals, murder, beheadings, lesbianism and black magic in her quest for vengeance, as all hell breaks loose in the final showdown between good and evil. My Thoughts: This is maybe the worst film I have ever seen. I'm pretty sure it's worse than Genocyber, which previously held that position. The acting is abysmal - in fact, I think the play we put on when I was in the 2nd grade had better quality acting. The script and effects are even worse. This isn't a B-movie. This isn't even a Z grade movie. This is some, as yet unfound letter below Z. On the other had, it may be the worst made film I've ever seen, but I didn't hate it as much as Dogma. Sure, Dogma is, on every level, a much better film. But I hated it ... and I hated it a lot more than this turd. Bechdel Test: Pass Overall: 0.5/5 (From Attention Danae Cassandra... After World War II, the public's fascination with gangsters had changed. No longer were they seen as romantic rebel heroes of the depression era, but as a menace to the freedom and prosperity we had fought to protect during the war. Cagney understood this change in the taste of the viewing public and decided to turn Cody Jarrett into a ruthless psychopath. Jarrett is a cold-blooded criminal with a deep-rooted Oedipal complex that is nurtured by his doting, and gun-toting mother (Margaret Wycherly). Only (click to show/hide) Of all the gangster films that James Cagney made, this was his greatest. It is the one role that he is most associated with and would be the benchmark for future actors to emulate in their interpretations of maniacal and psychopathic criminals. Ratings Criterion4 Stars - Historically important film, considered a classic. To pass the time, Walt built a prototype "Crime Computer". When Walt plugged in his Crime Computer, the "oscillating vibrations" broght to life three legendary monsters. Dracula, The Werewolf and Frankenstein. These creatures hated and feared for centuries are now determined to make up for their past misdeeds by using their unique abilities to fight crime and bust super villians wherever they find them. Together they are the Monster Squad! Monster Squad was a hugely popular Saturday morning kids action adventure series created by the same team that brought you the infamous 1960's Batman series. Now for the first time ever on DVD see all 13 episodes of this classic series now fully restored to it's former glory! Queen Bee The Queen Bee (Alice Ghostley) tries to make Dracula her mate... My Thoughts: This show I wouldn't expect any adult to get for themselves for any other reason then pure nostalgia. This is not what you would call interesting for an adult mind. I only got this set because I watched it as a kid. And let me tell you it is hard to watch as an adult. Sure there is a little nostalgia for me on watching it. But there is no way I could watch any more then 1 episode here and there. My Raitng: (From Pete's Pilots on May 17th, 2010) |
