28 Days Later, a review by addicted2dvd

28 Days Later
Hailed as the most frightening film since The Exorcist, acclaimed director Danny Boyle's groundbreaking take on zombie horror "isn't just scary...it's absolutely terrifying!" (ACCESS HOLLYWOOD)

My Thoughts:
When this was first released I tried to watch it... but ended up turning it off within the first 20 to 30 minutes of the movie. So this is the first time I made it all the way through the movie. I found this movie to be ok... but very little more then just an average movie. I found it to be a little long of a movie for the story it was telling... which made parts of the movie a bit slow... and dare I say boring for my taste. But it does have it's merits. It is a good base story... and some good scenes. To me it just felt like they were trying to make more of the movie then what they should have.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

Stagecoach, a review by Rich

Stagecoach

ONe of the all-time classic Westerns - considered by many to be the movie that propelled John Wayne to stardom in 1939. The film is set against the impressive backdrop of Monument Valley in Utah and tells the story of a mixed group of travellers who are making their way across the country to Arizona. They are endangered by an Indian War Party and this, along with their personal histories, results in difficulties. The film pays particular attention to the character studies of the group and is a taut psychological piece which earned an Oscar for Thomas Mitchell's performance as the drunken doctor. The music also won an Oscar and John Ford and Bert Flennon were nominated for best picture. A true classic American western.

A true cinema classic, still very enjoyable to watch some 70 years later, amazing stunts that at times are jaw-dropping (falling under moving horses and stagecoach etc) a film often copied but IMO not bettered.
The action has not aged and for such an old film is so impressive, and the time spent on building the characters so worthwhile and testament to Fords direction. I am not a great John Wayne fan, but in this he was perfect as The Ringo Kid, but the show stealer for me will always be Thomas Mitchell playing Doc Boone.
This is a must-see for all cinema fans  ;D

Smallville Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Season 5: Disc 5:

EPISODE 16: HYPNOTIC
Under her spell: A woman uses hypnosis to control Clark (and Lex uses the woman's past to control her). Broken spell: Clark parts ways with Lana. And Prof. Fine and the spaceship reemerge in Honduras.

My Thoughts:
This is a good episode... but nothing really special about it... other then the return of James Marsters as Professor Fine.

EPISODE 17: VOID
Journeys to the other side. Clark and Lex are each subjected to a substance that causes near-death experiences...and brings unexpected insights to each about the men they will become. Clark learns Prof. Fine is alive.

My Thoughts:
This was a good episode... it is an obvious rip off of the movie Flatliners... but I did enjoy it a lot.

EPISODE 18: FRAGILE
He understands the burden of unusual powers. Clark befriends a troubled girl who has anger - and telekinetic powers that shatter glass - she can't control. Suspicions about Lex and Lana may be right.

My Thoughts:
This is another one of those episodes that are good... but nothing really that special about it. I did like the special effects of the mentally controlling of  glass... it looked pretty cool.

EPISODE 19: MERCY
Do. Or die. Lionel and Martha are playing for keeps. They're trapped by a bizarre masked avenger and subjected to his lethal series of survival games. Clark tries to locate them before it's too late.

My Thoughts:
This is one of my favorites... even if it is a blatant rip-off of the Saw movies. I thought they did a really good job with it.
