Robert Webb as Michael
Olivia Colman as Joanna

Plot:
Say "I do" to this hilarious "mockumentary" about a trio of wacky couples who vow to win the coveted title of "Most Original Wedding of the Year." The dueling duos include the tuneless Matt (Martin Freeman) and Sam (Jessica Stevenson) whose unfortunate wedding theme is Hollywood musicals; the hypercompetitive tennis partners Josef (Steven Mangan) and Isabelle (Meredith MacNeill), and the outrageously uninhibited nudists Michael (Robert Webb) and Joanna (Olivia Colman). At stake is a million-dollar dream home, but can love survive in the midst of unbridled prenuptial chaos? Featuring a talented cast and three alternate endings that let YOU choose the winner, CONFETTI will "keep you laughing from start to finish" (Empire).

Extras:
  • Scene Access
  • Bonus Trailers
  • Deleted Scenes
  • Featurettes
  • Closed Captioned

My Thoughts:
This is one of the many that was given to me over the years. This particular one has been sitting in my unwatched pile for about two years now. It is one I never even heard of before getting it... let alone seen before today. Going by the overview I really wasn't expecting too much from this one. But I must admit it was better then I was expecting. I still wouldn't say it is a great movie... but I did find I enjoyed it. Even if I did call the winner of the contest at the beginning of the film. But over-all it is worth the time put in to watch it.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

My Thoughts:
A powerful and moving look at a man who discovers he has stomach cancer and suddenly realizes that the past 30 years of his life have had no meaning; that he has simply existed from day-to-day without actually enjoying life or doing anything meaningful to or for anyone.  He spends the last 5 months of his life bucking city hall (literally), in order to accomplish one small selfless act so that he can pass on with some measure of peace.  Much of what we learn of this man is through the eyes of others as he moves through the various stages of dealing with the imminence of his own demise.    Definitely, a movie that was ahead of its time.

Tom's TV Pilots marathon, a review by Tom

God, the Devil and Bob: The Complete Series (2000/United States)
IMDb | Wikipedia

Carsey-Werner Distribution, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment (United States)
Director:Jeff DeGrandis, Dan Fausett
Writing:
Length:282 min.
Video:Full Frame 1.33:1
Audio:English: Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround, Commentary: Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround
Subtitles:English, Spanish

Stars:
Alan Cumming as The Devil (voice)
James Garner as God (voice)
French Stewart as Bob Allman (voice)
Laurie Metcalf as Donna Allman (voice)
Kath Soucie as Andy Allman (voice)

Plot:
GOD IS IN ONE OF THOSE MOODS AGAIN...

...one of those "I think I'll cause another Great Flood to wipe mankind from the face of the Earth" kind of moods. He's always expected more from humanity and he's getting a little annoyed. Luckily God isn't quite ready to start all over again, so he decides that if one individual can prove the world is worth saving, he will spare it. And being a sporting kind of diety, God lets the Devil pick the man upon whose shoulders the fate of the world will rest.

Unfortunately, the Devil picks Bob Alman, a beer-drinking, porn-watching, "what's-in-it-for-me?" kind of guy who really doesn't want to be responsible for anyone or anything. Start praying...and start laughing.

Featuring the voices of Alan Cumming, French Stewart, Laurie Metcalf and James Garner.

God, the Devil and Bob
1.01 In the Beginning

A nice little comedy. This series was cancelled after four episodes, mainly because of pressure from religious groups.
