Deuces Wild, a review by Rich

Deuces Wild

Stephen Dorff ('Blade'), Brad Renfro ('Ghost World'), Fairuza Balk ('American History X'), Frankie Muniz ('Malcolm in the Middle') and Drea DeMatteo ('The Sopranos') star in this stylish, tough and sexy gang drama that vividly captures the tumultuous passion and brutal violence that pervaded New York in the late 1950s.
In the sweltering summer of 1958, the Deuces, a gang of Brooklyn toughs, find their turf threatened when the leader of a rival gang, the Vipers, is released from prison. Leon (Dorff), the Deuce's leader, tries to guide his boys through bloody brawls to keep the Vipers out. But when his brother (Renfro) falls into a sultry - and dangerous - relationship with Annie (Balk), the sister of a Viper, and his own girlfriend is brutally attacked, Leon and his gang are plunged into an all out war to save his brother, his girl - and his neighborhood!

2nd time of watching, and this remains a bit of a disjointed and average film. Some good charismatic performances from the leads, and the storyline moves along swiftly enough. The violence within the fights is fairly graphic, albeit a bit unrealistic for streetfights, and the romance within the film is not too drippy. But as a whole it just wasn't gritty enough for a gangster film to suit my taste, such as the excellent Goodfellas or Scarface.
Best way I could describe it is a harder edged West Side Story without the music and dance.

Night of the Demons 2, a review by addicted2dvd

Title: Night of the Demons 2
Movie Count: 72
TV Ep Count: 35
Other  Count: 2
Time Started: 10am
Plot:
For years, Hull House has sat in eerie silence - tales of its haunted past have turned into gory jokes - and no one really believes anything ever happened. But a special anniversary date is approaching...and, unknown to the local high school students, a horrorfest is in the works.

While most of the students at St. Rita's high school are excited about the "official" Halloween dance, Shirley Fennerty intends to party elsewhere. She and her rebellious cohorts are planning a wilder party at the abandoned "haunted" mansion.

They want fun...now they're in for the hell-raising party of their lives!

My Thoughts:
This one was not as good as the first movie... but I was still able to enjoy it. I think this one was a little more cheesy then the first... and it threw in a few more laughs... so it is more of a fun watch then anything else.  The first half of the movie was little more then just T&A. Not that I am complaining mind you... but I can see how it could loose viewers that don't like gratuitous nudity. Of course the demonic fun comes once a car full of students slip away and have their own Halloween party at Hull House. Over-all I would say this is an enjoyable movie... I am glad I added it to my collection. And would recommend it to most other horror fans... but if you are not into the cheesy horror then you should skip this one.

My Rating
Out of a Possible 5

The One Where It All Began: The Pilot Marathon, a review by DJ Doena

The Big Bang Theory

What's the show about?
The sitcom revolves around the lives of three physicists, one engineer and one waitress. The two physicists Sheldon and Leonard live across the hall from Penny the waitress. Leonard is in love with Penny but she hasn't responded yet. Sheldon and Leonard are often visited by their friends Rajesh and Howard (the latter one being the engineer) and when their world clashes with Penny's hilarity ensues.

"Pilot"
Leonard and Sheldon have just aborted a high IQ sperm donation when they discover that they have a new neighbour: Penny, a waitress at "The Cheesecake Factory". When Penny takes a shower in their apartment (and hopefully doesn't discover the Darth Vader shampoo or the Luke Skywalker conditioner) she asks Leonard for a favour...

My Opinion
One of my favourite sitcoms of all time. The five are so hilarious together with Sheldon being the heyday of most episodes. Sheldon is totally unaware of his rudeness and his arrogance and it's great fun to watch him and the others. I can't wait for the third season to begin next week and I am glad that the network has already ordered a fourth season.
