X-Men: The Last Stand, a review by Dragonfire

My Thoughts

This movie is entertaining, but I don't think it is as good as the first two X-Men movies.  Nightcrawler is done and there is no explanation for where he is after it seemed like he was going to stay with the X-Men at the end of the second movie.  Gambit is still missing.  The plot, or should I say plots, had potential that they didn't reach.  After all the set up for the Phoenix/Dark Phoenix story in the second movie, the way he was dealt with in this movie failed.  The origins of Phoenix is completely different, though I suppose the explanation in the movie is easier for people not familiar with the source material to follow.  Jean/Phoenix ultimately ends up not doing much and the chance to do a story about Phoenix is wasted.  The plot connected to the cure is interesting, but it also isn't that developed.  It could have been a more powerful plot if there was more time devoted to it and how some of the mutants were tempted by the cure...or struggled with the decision to get it.  As it was, mutants were just shown showing up and waiting in line to get the cure.  The impact of the cure - specifically as it relates to a few characters - isn't fully dealt with it.  Each of the stories would have worked so much better if they had been in their own movies instead of crammed together into one.  I still wonder how much the change in director played a part in the plot.  There is an interesting scene after the credits that seemed to have potential for future movies that so far haven't happened.

Overall, the movie is entertaining, but it isn't as good as the first two movies.

I did get a review posted on Epinions after first seeing the movie in the theater.

Spawn, a review by addicted2dvd

Spawn
Imagine a creature on the verge of creation. From comic book legend Todd McFarlane comes the live action special-effects movie event of the year - SPAWN. Michael Jai White, John Leguizamo and Martin Sheen star in a battle beyond good, beyond evil and beyond imagination.

My Thoughts:
This is only the second time I ever watched this movie. Which really is surprising since it is one of the very first DVDs I ever bought. I bought it the same day I bought my very first DVD Player. It is a pretty cool movie with some great special effects. I basically decided to pop this one in because it was one of the first movies I ever bought (a good 10 years ago)... to see how it would look after all these years. And it still looked as it did the first day I bought it. Granted it isn't one I watched a lot... but it does show if you do take care of the discs the do have a long shelf-life. Anyway... was a fun movie to watch... glad I watched it again.

Tom's Glee Marathon, a review by Tom

Jones (Rod Remington), Harry Shum, Jr. (Mike Chang), Dijon Talton (Matt Rutherford), Josh Sussman (Jacob Ben Israel), Peter Choi (Emcee), Thomasina Gross (Perfect Engleberger)

This episode was supposed to be the season finale. At first only 13 episode were produced for the season. But because of the success of the series, another 8 episodes were ordered to make it a full season.
And it is very noticable that this is written like a season finale. They have their first competition here.

Brittana:
This is the episode, in which a throwaway line started to plant the idea of a Brittana relationship:
During a telephone conference call with half of the Glee club:
Santana: Sex isn't dating.
Brittany (oblivious to what she is revealing): If it were, Santana and I would be dating.

Finncompetent:
Finn, having have found out, that he is not the real father of Quinn's baby, leaves the Glee club just before there first competition. And everybody is thinking, that without him, they have no chance. Really?! Hard to believe. In my opinion he is dragging down their performance. As later seen, when he comes back just in time for their performance. For me it doesn't look like he is contributing something essential (except if we did not get to their whole performance).

Favorite moments:
Santana admitting that Glee is her favorite part of the school day and she wouldn't have told Sue their setlist so that she could sabotage their performance. I like it, because it seems true. Even though she is more of a background character up to this point, it always looked like she is really enjoying it, when they sing and dance.

Notable music:
I like Rachel singing "Don't Rain on My Parade":

I also really like their choreography to "My Life Would Suck Without You". It solely consits of callbacks to other song choregraphies they have done up to this point. It's the last song of the episode and with that one it is really obvious, that it was supposed to be the season finale:
