Caramel, a review by Danae Cassandra

Caramel
Year of Release: 2007
Directed By: Nadine Labaki
Starring: Nadine Labaki, Yasmine al Masri, Joanna Moukarzel, Gisele Aouad
Genre: Drama

Overview:
A Beirut beauty salon becomes a treasured meeting place for several generations of women, from various walks of life, to talk, seek advice and confide in one another.

My Thoughts:
This is a warm, romantic tale of love - love attained, love lost, love forbidden, mutual love, one-sided love, the hope of new love, the bitterness of dying love. It's also, and perhaps even more primarily, a tale of female friendship, a tale of women who stick by one another and support each other through the good times and the bad. The film starts quite slow and takes a while to get going. But if you give it a chance, about half way through you really start to connect with these women and really care about their lives. It's very much an ensemble, slice-of-life film, and recommended if you like that sort of film.

Bechdel Test: Pass

Overall: 3.5/5

Ace ventura - Pet Detective, a review by Rich

Ace ventura - Pet Detective

Ace Ventura - Pet Detective is the best there is. In fact he's the only one there is. He finds himself on the case of a lifetime when he is asked to find a kidnapped dolphin, the mascot of the Miami Dolphins Football Team.

Jim Carrey - not funny.
He is amusing for about 20 seconds, a bit like someone doing a loud fart. But in the same way, if they keep farting, it becomes tiresome and unpleasant, similar to Jim Carrey.
So Courteney Cox is going to go to bed with a plonker like him in front of a barnyard of animals - yeah right!
Ridiculous story and unless you were an 8 year old boy I am not sure how you could enjoy this?? (star trek impersonations were good though)

A good episode which I always enjoyed.

Brittana:
This episode marks the official storyline about the Brittany/Santana relationship. They can be seen making out (very harmless). Santana gets scared when a remark by Brittany puts their hooking up in a relationship territory and rejects Brittany. Brittany starts going out with Artie. Initially to get Santana jealous.

Notable music:
I like the Sam & Quinn duet "Lucky" the best.
Video

Tina & Mike's "Sing!" is also really interesting:
Video

Santana & Mercedes's "River Deep, Mountain High" is also good:
