Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, a review by TomTitle: Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic Links: IMDb | Wikipedia
Stars: Rishi Kapoor as God Saif Ali Khan as Ranbeer Talwar Rani Mukerji as Geeta Akshat Chopra as Vashisht Shriya Sharma as Aditi Plot: On the day he receives an award, arrogant, wealthy, and self-centered, Ranbeer Talwar, has an accident with his BMW. This results in the death of the parents of four young children. Ranbeer is arrested, and a year later is sentenced to look after all the four children until they reach the age of 18, or face 20 years behind bars without any parole. Ranbeer agrees to do so, not realizing that the children have a plan of their own - to avenge the death of their parents, ensure that he breaches his undertaking and ends up in jail. Extras: Deleted Scenes Music Videos Poster Scene Access Trailers My Thoughts: Although the premise of the movie is ridiculous, I enjoyed this movie. Such a heartless sentence by the judge, sending the orphaned children to live with the man who caused the death of their parents. The plot borrows from Sound of Music and Mary Poppins. The best thing in this movie is of course Rani Mukerji. She saves this movie for me. She plays an angel sent down by god to help bringing the kids and their new guardian to like each other. And of course doing so, she herself falls in love with that man. Rating: (From Tom's Random Reviews on December 23rd, 2009) Near Dark, a review by Danae CassandraNear Dark Year of Release: 1987 Directed By: Kathryn Bigelow Starring: Adrian Pasdar, Jenny Wright, Lance Henriksen, Bill Paxton, Jenette Goldstein Genre: Horror, Western, Crime Overview:My Thoughts: This is a stylish hybrid film, bridging horror, western and crime genres together to create a uniquely modern look at the vampire. Perhaps one shouldn't use the term here, they certainly don't in the film, but it is still definitely a vampire film. All of the actors do an excellent job, and the pull Caleb finds himself in between his two contrasting families creates quite a bit of excellent tension as you wonder whether he will accept his new family and new life, or continue to cling to his humanity. Jenny Wright's portrayal of Mae is also just about the best portrayal of Stockholm Syndrome I've ever seen. There is a bit of gore here, but nothing too bad and all necessary to the story. Well worth a watch. Bechdel Test: Fail (I think) Overall: 4/5 (From Month Long Horror/Halloween Marathon on October 9th, 2014) Tom's TV Pilots marathon, a review by Tom
Plot: Inspired by his childhood experiences, comedian Chris Rock narrates the hilarious, touching story of a teenager growing up as the eldest of three children in Brooklyn, New York during the early 1980s. Uprooted to a new neighborhood and bused into a predominantly Italian middle school two hours away by his strict, hard-working parents, Chris (Tyler James Williams) struggles to keep his everyday trials and traumas in check as he thinks, talks or runs his way through one growing experience after another, both at home and at school. This debut volume of 'Everybody Hates Chris' on DVD contains all 22 Season One episodes of this acclaimed comedy series. Everybody Hates Chris 1.01 Everybody Hates the Pilot This is the first time I ever saw an episode of this series, even though I have had the first season for some years now. I had bought it on a blind buy. The episode was okay, but I won't be hurrying to watch the rest. Rating: (From Tom's TV Pilots marathon on April 10th, 2011) |
