From Beyond, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: From Beyond Year: 1986 Director: Stuart Gordon Rating: Category IIB (US Rating: R) Length: 85 Min. Video: Widescreen 1.50:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital Stereo Subtitles: Chinese Stars: Jeffrey Combs Barbara Crampton Ted Sorel Ken Foree Carolyn Purdy-Gordon Plot: "A hilariously grisly amalgam of sex, shock and satire. Do I laugh or do I scream? Both." - Newsweek If you loved RE-ANIMATOR, wait until you visit FROM BEYOND! It's a critically-acclaimed shocker based on H.P. Lovecraft's classic tale of suspense that takes you where no horror film has! The Resonator is a gruesome machine that activates a special sixth sense - one that makes its victims crave human brains. You're in for a wonderfully slimy time when you go FROM BEYOND! Extras: N/A My Thoughts: This is one of the movies that our good friend Achim sent to me. So it is a Hong Kong release (no region coding). I thought I never seen this movie before. But I now believe I had as some of the scenes in it looked familiar. It is not a great movie... but it was worth watching. I did enjoy it. One thing that kinda bothered me off and on through-out the movie is the forced Chinese subtitles. They distracted me from the movie a few times. As I said... the movie is pretty good., had some disgusting scenes in it. I don't think I would really classify it as gory... because when I think gory I think blood and guts... humans being torn apart. While there is a bit of blood. This seems different to me. It is more on the line of things you never seen before that look pretty gross. And those things coming apart and such. Extras: Featurettes Scene Access Trailers My Thoughts: This movie is okay. Not really my kind of movie. The performances were good. Also the story has some merrit, but in general it is just another one of those lesbian movies which just have to have a tragic/sad ending, like "Lost and Delirious", "Heavenly Creatures" and countless others. Sadly it is hard to find lesbian movies which are upbeat and have a happy ending.Rating: (From Lesbian Movie Marathon on March 5th, 2010) Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: The Complete Second Season marathon, a review by goodguy2x15 Deset Cantos Synopsis: The Connors investigate the company town connected to the destroyed factory and find something startling. Weaver searches for a survivor of the explosion. My Rating: Quote from: Josh Friedman about this episode: While I can understand that from both a conceptual and ethical viewpoint, this episode was a bit of a let down after the previous strong run. I would go as far as saying it is the weakest episode of the season. I liked that Sarah had to face the wife of the guy she shot at the warehouse, but the girl with the obnoxious boyfriend was merly a plot point, not very engaging. Too much X-Files stuff, dead cows and all. The basement confrontation of our unhappy terrorists with the "sleepwalking" townspeople was a nice note, but felt forced all the same. It is good that Sarah's hunch was proven right, but on first viewing I was a bit worried about the drone thing. Without spoiling anything, let me just say that the worry was unwarranted. The guy Weaver sent to investigate is dead and at least one person and a piece of technology from the warehouse is still around. A slightly above average episode that clarified a few things and set some plot points in motion, but was rather unsatisfying as far as the characters were concerned.
