My Thoughts:
Years ago when this film first came out on DVD I tried to watch this one... and just couldn't get into it. After watching it I just felt confused... unsure what I just seen and a bit on the bored side. Since that time I watched the first two Hobbit movies. Getting to know the characters and the storyline much better. Going into this film with more of an understanding of the characters and the storyline I find myself loving this series of films. I now can not wait to watch both The Two Towers and The Return of the King for the very first time ever. Wow... what a difference a little background info has done for me! It gave me a complete turnaround on my opinion of this film. This is a film I will definitely recommend now... but if you are like me and have no previous knowledge of the stories... do yourself a favor and watch The Hobbit films first!

22 Jump Street, a review by Dragonfire

22 Jump Street

I ended up seeing 22 Jump Street a week ago.  I never really wanted to see it, but I got talked into going by a friend.  I should have stuck by my initial instincts.

I saw 21 Jump Street on one of the Encore channels a few months ago.  I wasn't impressed.  The best part was when Johnny Depp turned up, but that quickly got ruined too.  This movie is mainly more of the same, with Jenko and Schmidt sent undercover at a local college after they screw up a drug bust.  Never mind that they are older than all the other students - they did at least acknowledge that they were too old to pass for high school students.  Jenko manages to become friends with a few football players who are in a fraternity.  Schmidt is left out of that, but he manages to hook up with a girl that is out of his league.  Jenko and Schmidt can't agree on things, and that does cause issues with their investigation.

Some of what happens is funny, but more often than not, the jokes don't work.  Things are way overdone.  I lost count of the number of times jokes are made about movie sequels or some kind of gay joke is done. The first few times, those things are funny, but they don't know when to stop.  Those jokes keep being used over and over and over, until long after the humor is gone.  Most of the humor is crude in some way, and that also gets old.  Too much of the movie just isn't funny.  The characters are flat and not that interesting.  I don't really like Jonah Hill.  He didn't annoy me as much in this movie, but nothing about his performance in it changed my opinion of him.

I know that 22 Jump Street made a lot of money and got a ton of good reviews.  I don't see it.  For me, the movie was a huge, unfunny mess.  Since the movie was successful, I won't be surprised if they go and make another one.

2 out of 5 stars

I did post a longer review on my movie blog.

Tom's TV Pilots marathon, a review by Tom

The Comeback: The Complete Only Season (2005/United States)
IMDb | Wikipedia

(United States)
Length:376 min.
Video:Full Frame 1.33:1
Audio:English: Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo, Spanish: Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo, Commentary: Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo
Subtitles:English, French, Spanish

Plot:
For fallen star Valerie Cherish - former B-list sitcom actress desperate to revive her career - no proce is too high to pay for clinging to the television spotlight. Valerie agrees to be the subject of an intrusive reality television show, with cameras following her every move as she lands the part of "Aunt Sassy" in a tedious new sitcom, Room and Bored.

Lisa Kudrow stars in this uncomfortably funny and insightfully biting comedy series from writer Michael Patrick King (Sex and the City).
In the spirit of reality television, there seems to be no end to the humiliating circumstances Valerie Cherish will endure, all in the name of fame.

The Comeback
1.01 The Comeback (Pilot)
Writer: Michael Patrick King (Writer), Lisa Kudrow (Writer)
Director: Michael Patrick King
Cast: Lisa Kudrow (Valerie Cherish), Malin Akerman (Juna), Robert Bagnell (Tom Peterman), Lance Barber (Paulie G), Robert Michael Morris (Mickey), Laura Silverman (Jane), Damian Young (Mark Berman), Kellan Lutz (Chris), Jason L. Olive (Jesse), Kimberly Kevon Williams (Shayne), Jim Bentley), Bill Escudier (Milo), Kim Fields (Herself), Marla Garlin), Nathan Lee Graham (Peter), Marilu Henner (Herself), Lillian Hurst (Esperanza), Andres Londono), Morann Peri), Jonathan Stark), Tom Virtue (Assistant Director), James Burrows (Himself (uncredited))

This series is the raw footage of a fictional reality TV series about the comeback of a has-been actress played by Lisa Kudrow. I liked the behind the scene stuff of the sitcom she has started to be part of. But I am not much of a fan of the reality TV style.
