Rush Hour 2, a review by addicted2dvd

Rush Hour 2
Last time they nearly destroyed L.A., now they're about to break China! Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker reprise their roles as mismatched detectives in this smash-hit follow-up that's even "faster and funnier than the first!" (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone)

Reunited in Hong Kong, the two cops look forward to a much-needed vacation. But their plans go up in smoke when a bomb explodes in the American Embassy. Suddenly, they're tracking a group of slippery suspects, including a beautiful assassin (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon's Zhang Ziyi) and a mysterious mobster (John Lone, The Last Emperor). With their irresistible mix of head-spinning action and gut-busting comedy, Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan prove they're the team to beat in this can't-miss movie that delivers the entertainment rush of the year!

Stars:
Jackie Chan
Chris Tucker
John Lone
Zhang Ziyi

My Thoughts:
After watching the first on not too long ago I felt like watching this one to follow it up with. It is a good one... I enjoyed seeing Chris Tucker out of his element this time. Well for half the movie anyway. While it is a good story... I do think I enjoyed the first one a little more. One of these days I will need to get part 3 of this series.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

Mascarades, a review by Danae Cassandra

What We Watched:

Mascarades (Masquerades)
Year of Release: 2008
Starring: Lyes Salem, Sarah Reguieg, Rym Takoucht, Merouane Zmirli, Mohamed Bouchaib
Directed By: Lyes Salem
Genre: Comedy, Romance

Overview:My Thoughts:
What a fun film!  After We Are Together we really needed something to pick up our spirits, and this definitely fit the bill.  Salem is simply perfect as Mounir, giving us a great performance as this man who is simply looking for a bit of respect from his neighbors.  Takoucht is also really great as his feisty wife.  It has a great message too, about following through with one's dreams and finding respect comes from within one own self.  Recommended for just about anyone.

Bechdel Test:  Pass

Overall:  3.5/5

My PILOT Marathon, a review by Rich

Mad About You - Season 1

Pilot - Romantic Improvisations
Paul and Jamie Buchman are newlywed adjusting to life together in Manhattan. When only after 5 months of marriage Jamie complains that their sexual life is not like it used to be, Paul decides to come earlier from his job so they could spend a nice evening alone. But, their scheduled evening goes awry as each assumes the other had cancelled their dinner plans with friends.

Bizarre pilot and totally unexpected, as it seemed to revolve around sex, or rather the lack of it, between this newly wed couple. For the 2nd night running a couple end up humping on the kitchen table -

All pretty tasteless and cheap humour, I had expected a lot more for a show that run for 7 series, and starring Helen Hunt. Maybe they used sex as a lure to attract viewers in this initial episode?
Not very cleverly written, very untaxing, hollow characters, and a one-tracked theme, this pilot does not encourage me to watch more.
