The Abominable Dr. Phibes, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: The Abominable Dr. Phibes Year: 1971 Director: Robert Fuest Rating: PG-13 Length: 95 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital Mono, French: Dolby Digital Mono, Spanish: Dolby Digital Mono Subtitles: French, Spanish Stars: Vincent Price as Dr. Phibes Joseph Cotten as Dr. Vesalius Virginia North as Vulnavia Terry-Thomas as Dr. Longstreet Sean Bury as Lem Plot:Extras: Scene Access Theatrical Trailers Closed Captioned My Thoughts: This is one of the many in my collection I never seen before today. Though it is one that was suggested to me on many occasions by many people. Vincent Price has become a favorite of mine. I have to admit... I had my concerns about this one as soon as it started. Since I am not a fan of music of any kind. And this one opens with some strange orchestra. The movie itself... while good... I was expecting better. Maybe because of how people have gone on and on about it to me... causing my expectations to be higher then they should have been. But over all it is worth watching and I am glad I have it in my collection. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Movies of the '70s Marathon on March 18th, 2010) Volcano High, a review by Tom

My Thoughts: One to miss. I found it boring for the most part and I just didn't like the direction. All the scenes are just too over the top and there doesn't really seem to be story behind it at all. I expected something more along the line of Sky High. One of the main cast is the star from "My Mighty Princess". She really looked a lot like Kristin Kreuk in this one. My Thoughts: I just finished watching the first season of Arrow for the first time. I must say... I enjoyed it very much. The series is loaded with a bunch of great action... and it has a great storyline that keeps your interest as well. I think the entire cast did a fine job as well. Though the series is not perfect. First off is this series is about the Green Arrow... but yet they refuse to call him this... through-out the entire first season he is only known as "The Hood". Also I didn't like how they did his mask. I mean just wearing green make-up across his eyes like a mask? No... this just not right. And this series also falls short where many superhero movies and TV Series do... to many people learning Green Arrow's secret identity. I can accept one... maybe two for the entire run... but more then that is just too much in my opinion. But despite all those problems I found another series that I love. So can't wait to watch the season 2 episodes... especially with how the first season ended. If you never seen this series... I highly recommend it.My Rating: (From Arrow: The Complete First Season on April 24th, 2014) |
