My Thoughts: Now this is more of what I was expecting going in. I like the fish out of water story line that is in this one. Though I must admit that it is pretty predictable. At least going by today's standards. There is several laugh out loud moments. And I liked how opened up for the next movie at the end of this one. Letting us know what the next film will be about. A well done fun comedy. Video: Full Frame 1.33:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo Subtitles: Stars: Willem Dafoe Susan Sarandon Dana Delany David Clennon Mary Beth Hurt Plot: John LeTour (Willem Dafoe) is a good man in a bad business working for Ann (Susan Sarandon) on the wrong side of the law. When Ann decides to close up shop, LeTour has to go straight and come up with a future. But time is running out on him as he must dodge the cops, confront a killer, and find his heart before he can leave his past behind. Extras: Scene Access My Thoughts: I remember when I first picked this movie up thinking to myself how come a movie with this kind of star power be one I have never heard of? Willem Dafoe and Susan Sarandon in a movie written by Paul Schrader of Taxi Driver fame should be of major significance and yet it seems to have flown under the radar. While not in the same league as Taxi Driver it is quite good. You quickly pick up on some of the similarities between the films, particularly the sleazy, cesspool of a city as a backdrop. Willem Dafoe was stellar and Sarandon solid. Look for both Sam Rockwell and David Spade in minor roles early in their careers. Dana Delaney is a tasty treat who makes you want more. Two thumbs up! Guided by a mystical Spirit Crow, he is neither living nor dead, possessing strange new powers to aid him in his search for revenge which, ultimately, must become a quest for redemption. The Soul Can't Rest On the first anniversary of his death, rock musician Eric Draven reappears, bent on revenge against those who brutally murdered both him and his soul-mate Shelly. My Thoughts: This is another series I bought blind when I found it cheap on sale. Actually it is one I got free in a buy one get one free sale. This series was a pleasant surprise to me. I have watched several episodes in the past and I have enjoyed it. I really need to get around finish off this show! The pilot episode does a good job of introducing the characters. The series has some good fight sequences in it. Which was the selling point of getting my mother hooked on the series. She always loved pretty much anything with martial arts in it. I especially enjoyed the final fight in this episode. My Rating: (From Pete's Pilots on November 24th, 2009) |
