Tremors, a review by Dragonfire

Tremors

Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward star as two country handymen who lead a cast of zany characters to safety in this exciting sci-fi creature comedy.

Just as Val McKee (Bacon) and Earl Basset (Ward) decide to leave Perfection, Nevada, strange rumblings prevent their departure. With the help of a shapely seismology student (Finn Carter), they discover their desolate town is infested with gigantic man-eating creatures that live below the ground.

The race is on to overcome these slimy subterraneans and find a way to higher ground, in this enjoyable thriller co-starring Michael Gross and Reba McEntire.

My Thoughts

This was actually the first horror/monster type movie that I saw.  I remember not being interested in seeing the movie at all when I saw trailers.  Then I saw the movie when it turned up on tv and I really liked it.  Since then I've seen it several times and I still enjoy it.  I love the mix of comedy and horror...which may be why I'm still partial some more...corny horror types of movies.  Some things that happen are a bit cheesy and there is some over acting at times, but it all works to make a highly entertaining movie.  The characters are interesting and I think the cast did well.  The movie isn't that gory, so it is more mild than some movies.

I did get a review posted on Epinions last year.

My Thoughts:
This is one of the movies that was recently given to me.  Going into this one I wasn't sure what to expect... but as it turns out I enjoyed it quite a bit. There was some things that was a bit hard to get past... like the electricity still working in the mines over 50 years after the minds were abandoned... but I was able to overlook this. Besides... it made it so you could see what was going on very clearly. And be able to clearly see the giant beetle like creatures and the havoc they caused. Because of people getting torn apart by these creatures there is a good amount of gore in this one. So be warned about that if you don't care for gory movies. But this is one I feel good about recommending if you don't mind leaving your brain at the door when you watch a movie.

Pete's Pilots, a review by addicted2dvd

Land of the Lost
Marshall, Will and Holly on a routine expedition met the greatest earthquake ever known. High on the rapids it struck their raft and plunged them down a thousand feet below to the Land of the Lost.

Take a journey back in time with the Marshall family through this incredible world of breathtaking wonder, pulse-pounding danger and mind-boggling special effects. Only in the Land of the Lost will you battle dinosaurs one day and encounter beings from other dimensions the next.

The Pylons, the Pakuni, evil energy storms...they are all part of the awesome adventures created by legendary Sid and Marty Krofft. Relive all your favorite Saturday morning thrills as you rediscover all 43 action-packed original episodes in the Land of the Lost Complete Series.

Cha-Ka
The Marshalls make a new friend, Cha-Ka the Paku, and a new enemy... a hungry T-Rex.

My Thoughts:
I used to watch this series every Saturday morning when I was a kid. It was one of my favorites at the time. So this show brought back some memories for me. When I first got this set I watched a few episodes with Brittany... and she liked it too so I know that this show can still appeal to kids. But I am sure it offers nothing for adults. Not unless of course you watched the show as a kid and want to watch it for nostalgic reasons. And for that reason I still find this series to be a fun distraction from real life.

This is one of those shows where the starting theme serves tells you the story on how they got there. In the first episode they are already in The Land of the Lost and they meet their new friend Cha-ka. Not to mention figure out how to fend off a T-Rex. I am probably enjoying this more then I should... but hey... this is my childhood we are talking about here. It is a reminder of simpler and better times.
