A Glimpse of Hell, a review by Rich

A Glimpse of Hell

On April 19, 1989, an explosion during training exercises in Gun Turret number two of the U.S.S. Iowa, a storied battleship, created more than one firestorm; Besides the one that killed more than 40 sailors, a scandal swept the nation that put ...    Full Descriptionthe U.S. Navy on the defensive. The Navy, in what some suspected was an attempt to cover up unauthorized artillery experiments by enlisted men, accused one of the dead men of being a suicidal homosexual and setting off the explosion in a fit of jealous rage. Idealistic Lieutenant Dan Meyer (Robert Sean Leonard), a witness to the tragedy, whose father was an honored military man, must square off with the ship's longtime, but remote captain, Fred Moosally (James Caan), when testifying during the heated and nationally televised investigation by the Pentagon.

Reasonably well told adaptation of a true event, this was a pleasant surprise from a blind buy. The acting is solid throughout, for a change Caan is watchable, and Robert Sean Leonard (Wilson in House MD) gives a convincing performance as the whistle blowing Lieutenant. It sticks very close to the facts, so at times it did plod along with predictability and mediocraty, but for me the political edge was an interesting accompiniment.

Toy Story 2, a review by snowcat

Here we see Jessie, at this point Woody has been talking about how he has to get back to Andy, because Andy loves him. Upset by this Jessie walks away only to be followed by Woody who again, tells her how great Andy is. Jessie snaps back at him telling him she knows what its like but it will change.

Here we see Emily playing with Jessie happily, after going to a small park the two return in the car. Jessie is safely tucked in Emily seatbelt, Emily strokes her hand in a comforting way (maybe the same way you would comfort a tired child?) Jessie seems to go to sleep.

After Jessie falls under Emily's bed she looks out to see Emily is starting to grow up, she's into makeup and has her friend over. very different to the days she dressed as a cow girl.

What appears to be a few years later, Emily drops her makeup on the floor reaching under her bed she finds Jessie, she pulls her out and looks at her. Jessie looks happily back

At this point we see that Jessie thinks every thing will return to the way it was. She sits in Emily's bag in the car as they return to the same park from earlier.

NCIS Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

NCIS: Season 2: Disc 3

9. FORCED ENTRY
A woman shoots a would-be rapist in self-defense, but Gibbs and his team find the woman may have lured the attacker to her home under false pretenses.

My Thoughts:
Definitely a good episode. I like the way it has you thinking one way and then turns it completely around on you. This episode also goes a little extra on the gore. eyeballs on the counter... dead guy missing his eyes. A throat sliced deep and wide. Lots of horific images in this episode.

My Rating:

10. CHAINED
While posing as an escaped prisoner, Tony gets chained to a murderous convict, but the two are soon missing in action.

My Thoughts:
A good... but somewhat standard episode. I enjoyed it, but I wasn't overly impressed with it.

My Rating:

11. BLACK WATER
A Naval officer, missing for two years, turns up in a car at the bottom of a lake. Now the missing persons case looks like murder to Gibbs and the team.

My Thoughts:
This is a good episode. I didn't care much for the detective in this episode... but the story itself is a good one.

My Rating:

12. DOPPRELGANGER
A petty officer's possible murder looks like a hoax to Gibbs and his team, until the petty officer is actually found dead.

My Thoughts:
I liked this one as well... but once again it is pretty standard compared to many episodes.

My Rating:
