Dead Teenagers, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Corey Schuler Kyle Good Rich Bolen Danny Costa Plot: On a dark autumn eve, a college student finds a mysterious book in his campus library. Within it's pages he finds four gruesome tales of ghosts, werewolves, vampires and the unknown. Extras: Scene Access My Thoughts: This movie is in a cheap boxset I got from Mills Creek called Mortuary of Madness. This movie is an Anthology. It has 4 stories in the one movie. The wrap around story pretty much sucked. Basically non-existent as it was no more then a guy finding a hand-written book in the library and he was reading the stories that someone wrote in the notebook. The first story I didn't care for at all really. It was more confusing then anything. I still not sure what it was I watched to be honest. By this time I was thinking another looser of a movie. Then it went back to the guy reading the book in the library... he turns the page and you see the title and a drawing of a werewolf. I like werewolves so I decided to continue to watch. Now this story... while it took a few minutes.. it just grabbed me. I found myself enjoying this movie... I thought cool! The third story is a ghost story. Now this one I really loved! I was actually glued to the TV off one of these movies!?!? What a pleasant surprise. The fourth and final story in this anthology is a vampire story. This one I didn't care as much for as I did stories numbers 2 & 3... but it is definitely quite a bit better then the first one. The movie itself actually has a feel of a student movie. Definitely low budget... the acting is fair at best... and the effects are almost non-existent. But the stories... these stories are more then enjoyable... they were definitely well done. Well...except for the first one and the wrap around anyway. I am really pleasantly surprised to be able to give this movie such a high rating (Probably too high of a rating). Especially considering that the acting and the effects both need help. But for me at least... the writer(s) made this film. So much so that you really don't care about the downfalls of the movie. My Rating Out of a Possible 5 Count: Movie Count: 83 TV Ep. Count: 47 I Made It! (10/20) Other Count: 8 I Made It! Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.78:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital 5.1, English: Dolby Digital Surround, French: Dolby Digital Mono Subtitles: English Stars: Paul Reubens [Pee-wee Herman] Penelope Ann Miller Kris Kristofferson Valeria Golino Wayne White Plot:Extras: Scene Access Closed Captioned My Thoughts: Let me start off by saying that I never cared much for Pee-wee Herman. I have never found him to be anything but annoying. I wouldn't have ever had this in my collection but a good friend of mine had this in a big box full of DVDs she gave me when she was cleaning out her collection.... back in October 2007. And it has been sitting in my unwatched shelf every since. Since Achim listed it in the movies he would like to see me review I figured I may as well finally get it off this shelf. So obviously I went into this one not expecting much entertainment at all. But OMG... 10min into this one I didn't think I would be able to make it through this one. By half way through I couldn't take any more of it. Of course I am not surprised at all... because I always had this impression of Pee-wee Herman... but I found this movie to be no more then silly, childish and completely ridiculous. I do realize that is the entire point... but it is just not for me. I just could not see past all that to find any type of entertainment value. I will have to see if Brittany wants to give it a chance. If she wants it... she can have it. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 ZERO (From Weekend Movie Marathon: Unwatched DVDs on January 9th, 2010) The X-Files Marathon, a review by addicted2dvdThe X-Files: Season 1 16. Young at Heart Original Air Date: February 11, 1994 John Barnett, who suppositively died years ago in prison, comes back to haunt the person who helped put him in jail - Mulder. Guest Stars: Dick Anthony Williams as Reggie Purdue Alan Boyce as Young John Barnett Christine Estabrook as Agent Henderson Graham Jarvis as NIH Doctor Jerry Hardin as Deep Throat My Thoughts: Another one that didn't really impress me a whole lot. More of an average episode that didn't keep my interest as much as I would have liked. My Rating: (From The X-Files Marathon on April 8th, 2010) |
