Men in Black II, a review by Dragonfire

Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith are back in black as the scum-fighting super-agents Kay and Jay - regulators of all things alien on planet Earth. Their latest mission: to save the world from a total intergalactic disaster!

When a renegade Kylothian monster disguised as a lingerie model threatens the survival of the human race, the boys of the MIB get the call to step up and get busy. With their headquarters under siege and time running out, Agents Kay and Jay enlist the help of Frank the Pug and a posse of hard-living worms to help them kick some seriously sexy alien butt!

My Thoughts

This is a good sequel, though I don't like it as much as the original.  The interactions between Jay and Kay aren't the same, though there is some explanation for that.  The new aliens introduced are interesting.  The plot isn't overly complex even though a lot of things are going on.  It is interesting and makes for an entertaining movie overall.  The effects are done well overall again, though I've noticed a few spots where they don't look as good.  Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones handle their parts well again, though Jones was better in the first movie.  I think that is mostly because of the way his character is written for this one.

Overall, I really enjoy this movie and think it is very entertaining.   ;D

I did get a review posted on Epinions back after I first saw the movie.

The Haunting (1999), a review by addicted2dvd

NOTE: This one is for Jon!... I just had to make him shiver and tell me I am wrong!  :tease:

The Haunting (1999)
In this edge-of-your seat supernatural thriller featuring Hollywood's hottest stars, a study in fear escalates into a heart-stopping nightmare for a professor and three subjects trapped in a mysterious mansion.

For over a century, the dark and forbidding Hill House has sat alone and abandoned... or so it seemed. Intrigued by the mansion's storied past, Dr. Marrow (Liam Neeson) lures his three subjects - Theo (Catherine Zeta-Jones), Nell (Lili Taylor) and Luke (Owen Wilson) - to the site for a seemingly harmless experiment. But, from the moment of their arrival, Nell seems mysteriously drawn to the house... and the attraction is frighteningly mutual. When night descends, the study goes horrifyingly awry as the subjects discover the haunting secrets that live within the walls of Hill House.

Don't miss the state-of-the-art special effects as Hill House unleashes its supernatural wrath in this latest thriller from the director of 'Speed' and 'Twister'.

My Thoughts:
This, in my opinion, is a good... and fun haunted house movie. But at the same time I think it is a bit CGI heavy as well. Something I think ghost stories forgot somewhere along the way is what you do not see is always scarier then what you see.  I did like Catherine Zeta-Jones as Theo... she was probably my favorite character in the movie. Until recently (this past Halloween) I never seen the original of this movie so was never able to compare the two. But now that I have I can say that I do prefer the original... but this one is good for a "Check you brain at the door... Pop-corn movie."

My Rating:
Out of a possible 5:

Plot:
College isn't the only thing he can't get into!

How's a guy supposed to keep his nose in the books with so many sexy girls in his face? Keitaro moved to his grandma's apartment building to cram for a college entrance exam. Too bad nobody told him the complex is for ladies only and that he's the new manager!

The job has some perks: girls frolicking in the hot springs all day and lounging in their naughtiest nighties all night. It's definitely gonna be tough for Keitaro to focus on studying - especially if one of his titillating tenants turns out to be his long lost love! From the man who quickened your pulse with Negima! and My Santa, it's Ken Akamatsu's classic - Love Hina!

1.01 All-Girls Dorm with Outdoor Bath: Hot Spring (2000-04-19)

I know someone who absolutely loves this series and the manga it was based on. It's the prototypical harem comedy.
I never really got into it. It has some fun moments, but I always preferred "Ai Yori Aoshi" to this.
