National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, a review by RichTitle: National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (Blu-Ray) Runtime:97 Certificate:PG Year:1989 Genres:Comedy Plot:This holiday season Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) vows his clan will enjoy "the most fun-filled old-fashioned family Christmas ever." Before you can sing "Fa-la-la-la-lah," he decks the halls with howls of folly in the perennial favorite National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Seeing is believing. There are 25,000 lights on the roof. An exploding turkey on the dining room table. A SWAT team taking siege outside. A festive supporting cast (Including Beverly D'Angelo, Juilia Louis-Dreyfus, Juliette Lewis, William Hickey, and more) and a John Hughes script full of wit, heart and sheer goofiness. Yule love it! My Review: My families traditional xmas movie, viewed countless times, and I still have belly laughs at so many of the scenes, and despite being able to quote most of the lines now, still thoroughly enjoying this classic seasonal comedy. "merry xmas sir, merry xmas to you, kiss my ass, kiss his ass, happy honiker" as quoted by Clark as his bosses file pass in order of superiority. Top rated movie **Update for Blu-ray version - the quality is no better than dvd and shows no sign of upgrading, so pointless to purchase the hd version (sadly i didn't know this before buying)** My Rating (From December Marathons - DISCUSSION AND REVIEW THREAD on December 3rd, 2009) Meet Dave, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: Meet Dave Year: 2008 Director: Brian Robbins Rating: PG Length: 90 Min. Stars: Eddie Murphy Elizabeth Banks Gabrielle Union Scott Caan Ed Helms Plot: A crew of miniature aliens operate a spaceship that has a human form. While trying to save their planet, the aliens encounter a new problem, as their ship becomes smitten with an Earth woman. My Thoughts: When I originally saw the trailer for this movie... my curiosity was peeked. Shortly after the movie came out I started reading bad reviews for it. So I decided to wait for it to show on cable instead of wasting money on it. I spotted it on On-Demand this morning and figured I would give it a go... but will keep my expectations very low. While it isn't exactly what I would call a good movie... I was expecting worse. I did get a couple chuckles out of it... but for the most part it really is a pretty average movie. Definitely not one I would be in a hurry to see again. It would have to be very cheap for me to add it to my collection. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From My Alphabet Marathon Reviews on July 8th, 2010) Tom's TV Pilots marathon, a review by Tom
Plot: School is finally out for the summer and Yukari Morita has big plans this season. It's off to the Solomon Islands for her, in search of her long lost father. Unfortunately the archipelago stretches over 28,000 square kilometers and boasts a population of about 500,000 people. With odds like that, what's a girl to do? Luckily for Yukari the local Solomon Space Agency is in desperate need of a new astronaut. With their promise to help find her father Yukari begins her part time job as an astronaut! Prepare to blast off into a world of fun, facts and fan-service at 100 kilometers above the Earth's surface! Rocket Girls 1.01 Destiny A fun series. You can find my full review here. The first episode is good and introduces some of the characters and the basic premise. Rating: (From Tom's TV Pilots marathon on June 25th, 2012) |
