Race to Witch Mountain, a review by Rich

Race to Witch Mountain

Fasten your seatbelts for the thrill ride of your life in Disney's fun family action-adventure - RACE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN, starring Dwayne Johnson. Jack Bruno (Johnson), a Las Vegas cabdriver struggling to stay on the right path, gets an out-of-this-world incentive when two aliens, disguised as teenagers, suddenly appear in his taxi. In a race against government agents, an alien hunter and time itself, Jack must help the children recover their lost spaceship so they can return home and save their planet and ours. Breathtaking chases, close calls and special effects make this an action-adventure the whole family will enjoy.

Bearing in mind the audience age this movie was primarily made for, it is a fun adventure with amazing special effects, and ticks the boxes for most youngsters desires from an action movie. Johnsons gags are entertaining, and to be fair he doesn't do a bad job in this movie. Gugino appears as sweet as ever, and the pace of the film is non-stop.
Surprisingly a good family movie that should entertain all.

Nerdy, good-natured Paul Tannek is a square peg in the round hole that is New York University. His pot-smoking, girl-chasing rommates hate him, everyone else on campus ignores him...and to make matters worse, the girl of his dreams, Dora Diamond, only has eyes for their literature professor (played by Greg Kinnear from AS GOOD AS IT GETS). But when fate puts them together, Paul and Dora get a chance to figure it out and maybe even prove that sometimes, even losers can get lucky. Jason Biggs from AMERICAN PIE and Mena Suvari from AMERICAN BEAUTY will win your heart in this outrageous romantic comedy that's definitely a winner

My Thoughts:
Better than I remembered. I enjoyed revisiting this movie. After American Pie Jason Biggs was typecast as the loser guy. A role which he simply fits into. It is worth to see this movie for the cute Mena Suvari alone.
As far as I remember it is because of this movie that I have bought Wheatus self-titled album and Everclear's "So Much for the Afterglow" album. Two CDs I still like to listen to today.

My Thoughts:
Yesterday, after having received this series, I wrote, that I only bought it, because it was cheap. It seemed like a series, which could be interesting but had a high chance to totally miss my taste (after watching the opener below before buying it seemed to make this impression to me). I was wrong! It was 12 bucks very well spent! Now only one day later I have already watched all 13 episodes almost in one sitting.
This series is about a young female rookie teacher who starts in a school full of rowdy high schoolers. What nobody knows, she is actually part of a feared Yakuza (Japanese mafia) family and she is one of the best fighters there is. But she has to hide this side of herself at school to not get fired as a teacher, which is her life's dream. The problem is, her students always seem to get in some kind of trouble.
Now I am sorry that there are only 13 episodes :(
