Max Payne, a review by Rich

Max Payne

Coming together to solve a series of murders in New York City are a DEA agent (Wahlberg) whose family was slain as part of a conspiracy and an assassin (Kunis) out to avenge her sister's death. The duo will be hunted by the police, the mob, and a ruthless corporation.

Disappointing adaptation and possibly the 2nd worst film I've watched Wahlberg in.
The noir film setting, the effects (especially the hallucinations), and the principle of the film taken from the video game are wonderful, sadly it doesn't make much sense and is way too far fetched.
At one point he faces up to about 20 security guards who are armed with machine guns, whilst he has just a pistol, and only 10 feet between them. Somehow they shoot about 1000 times and miss him, whilst his never ending magazine picks them off with little trouble as he 'dramatically flees' the scene. And then his pump action shotgun that allows him to fire it with the speed of an automatic?? And let's not even get to how the star was shot so many times without bleeding or getting hurt. Maybe the director thought this was a game and not the movie, made with easy mode chosen.
I finished the film thinking why end here?, what happened?, and was it worth it?

Rescue from Gilligan's Island, a review by addicted2dvd

Rescue from Gilligan's Island
Fifteen years after the SS Minnow's infamous "three hour tour," Gilligan and his fellow shipwrecked friends have found a way off the island for good! Thrust back into reality, will the seven companions find their reentry to civilization more difficult than anticipated?

My Thoughts:
This time I felt like a little senseless fun... so I decided to watch some of the antics of Gilligan and the gang. It is a fun movie.. and that is just about it. If you liked the TV Series it is a must see... but if you didn't it is just more of the same. Being in the public domain the dvd itself is not very impressive. The one I got is one of those really cheap Dollar DVDs you see in the stores. Decent picture and sound... virtually no extras... except for a preview clip of a bunch of other releases from the same company.

My Rating:
Out of a possible 5

My PILOT Marathon, a review by Rich

HEX - SERIES ONE - PILOT - THE STORY BEGINS

First aired: 10/17/2004
The shadow of the past is about to wreak havoc on a remote English school. Cassie`s legacy will stay silent no longer. The time has come to face her destiny. The time has come to make a choice: join the forces that claim her as their own, or find a way to fight them.
From the creators of As If comes a thrilling new series. Hex is a spine chilling journey into one girl`s experience of the supernatural. Cassie (Christina Cole, He Knew He Was Right) longs to be popular, but is only truly loved by her best friend, Thelma (Jemima Rooper, As If). But Cassie soon discovers her new powers come at a price: the thrill is too seductive, each hit drawing her deeper into a world beyond her control. And when the man she should fear most finds a way to her heart, it can only end in tragedy.

In Britains answer to Buffy, I found little potential and was left feeling disappointed after viewing the overly long pilot.
Tired old script, poor supporting cast, mediocre pace and a crap soundtrack.
I was bored watching this, and have little enthusiasm in returning to the series at any point.
