Shadow Puppets, a review by addicted2dvdTV Stars in the Movies Marathon Title: Shadow Puppets Year: 2007 Director: Michael Winnick Rating: NR Length: 103 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.78:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital 5.1, English: Dolby Digital Stereo, Commentary: Dolby Digital Stereo Subtitles: Stars: Jolene Blalock as Kate James Marsters as Jack Marc Winnick as Charlie Diahnna Nicole Baxter as Stacy Natasha Alam as Amber Star(s) of TV Series:
Plot: Jolene Blalock (STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE) James Marsters (BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, ANGEL) and Tony Todd (CANDYMAN) star in this creepy chiller about a group of strangers who awaken in a locked asylum ward with no idea of who they are or how they got there. They are half-naked, cold and frightened. And they are not alone. Who has erased their memories? Why have they been imprisoned? And what is the supernatural force that is slaughtering them one by one? The answers wait deep in the darkness where a beast hungers to feed, escape is virtually impossible, and the shadows of sanity may hide the most shocking revelations of all. Extras: Scene Access Audio Commentary Feature Trailers Bonus Trailers Featurettes Closed Captioned My Thoughts: This is a cool horror. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Actually I enjoyed every minute of it. While watching this one all I could think of is how it felt like some of those survival horror video games I used to play. Jolene Blalock played a very strong character in this movie... and there is nothing I enjoy more in a horror movie then a strong female character. I have always hated the women in horror movies that does nothing but scream and running scared... without even thinking of what they are doing or where they are going. I really liked all the characters in this one. Along with the 2 TV stars above... this one has Tony Todd... another person I have become a fan of over the years. If you haven't yet... you should give this one a try. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Weekend Movie Marathon: TV Stars in the Movies on March 5th, 2010) Planet of the Apes, a review by RichTitle: Planet of the Apes (blu-ray) Runtime:112 Certificate:PG Year:1968 Genres:Science-Fiction, Adventure Plot:Witness the evolution of a cinematic masterpiece with this 40th Anniversary Edition of the original Planet of the Apes on Blu-ray, loaded with hours of thrilling extras! In this classic action-adventure film that changed the face of sci-fi forever, an astronaut (Charlton Heston) crash-lands on a strange planet ruled by intelligent apes who use a primitive race of humans for experimentation and sport! My Review: HD viewing of another classic. The picture was a stunning improvement, but I was disappointed with the sound upgrade to DTShd, which did not come across as such a vast improvement on original dvd. The crystal clear and dramatic action scenes, being able to define expressions on the humans faces, and the depth of colours, made up for this tenfold. Good extras again, and an interesting commentary. The other day I decided instead of a movie marathon for next weekend I would do TV Show episodes that dealt with birthdays. I originally thought movies about birthdays... but I don't have all that many to manage a marathon of them. Once I went to all the episode guides to see how many episodes I have about birthdays... I was shocked at how many episodes there are in my collection! I have 89 episodes dealing with birthdays in one way or another! So I thought I would just see how many I could watch through-out the entire week! Of course I will still work on any other marathons I have going on at the time as well. Adventures of Superman: Season 1 The Birthday Letter Superman is implicated in the abduction of a young girl who is thought to have information concerning hidden counterfeit plates. My Thoughts: I always enjoyed this episode. I especially enjoyed the ending where Superman is flying the crippled little girl around the city. But how times have changed! The idea of a cripple child staying home by herself during the day is unheard of now! That would be a good way to get into some serious trouble. And here when this show was made ('50s) they acted like it was no big deal at all. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Birthday Marathon on May 24th, 2009) |
