Seedpeople, a review by GSyren

TitleSeedpeople
Year1992
DirectorPeter Manoogian
StarsSam Hennings, Andrea Roth, Dane Witherspoon, Bernard Kates, Holly Fields
OverviewThe sleepy little town of Comet Valley has been invaded by plants from outer space. Intent on taking over the Earth, the space plants have found a way to pollinate humans, thus turning them into walking seed carriers.

Can the resourceful residents fight off the alien invaders, or is the planet doomed to become an alien garden?
My thoughtsFrom an idea by [executive producer] Charles Band. Well, let me guess what ideas good old Charlie had:
* We can take the story from Invasion of the Body Snatchers, add some monsters and a little blood, and nobody will see the connection. Fail!
* We let John Carl Buechler build the monsters. He'll do a terrific job of it. Fail!
* It'll be as good as the original. Heck, it'll be even better. Epic fail!

It's not the worst movie I've ever seen. But that's not saying much, because I've seen some real turkeys. But there's hardly anything good about it either. It's silly without being funny. Story, acting, directing, everything is just mediocre.
If you want to see Invasion of the Body Snatchers, see the original. Or even any of the official remakes. The '78 remake is almost as good as the '56 original. The '93 remake by Abel Ferrara is so-so, but hey, it's got a young Gabrielle Anwar. This one is pretty much just a waste of time.

The Burning, a review by Rich

Title: The Burning

Movie Count:14
TV Ep. Count:8

Runtime:91
Certificate:R
Year:1981
Genres:Horror

Plot:A group of summer camp pranksters got the scare of their lives when they target the camp's creepy caretaker...and he takes bloody revenge ! "Gruesome" (The Hollywood Reporter) and "stomach churning" (Boxoffice), this terrifying tale is "a brilliant slasher flick [and] gory as hell!" (slasherpool.com)
After a cruel joke goes awry, severly burning him and subjecting him to five years of intensive, unsuccessful skin graft treatments, Cropsy (Lou David) is back at camp...and ready to wreak havoc on those who scarred him! With his hedge clippers in hand, he terrorizes the camp and systematically mutilates each victim. Can a few courageous campres save themself and destroy this demented madman before he kills them all?

My Review:
Funny 80's B movie slasher film, full of nubile young teen girls with perky tits, and jocks and geeks chasing them
Caretaker turns killer with shears and scissors following a prank gone wrong, and he slowly one by one murders his way through the camps guests. Plenty of ketchup and fleshy close-ups, but the gore does not make up for some fairly inept direction and a dot to dot obvious and boring storyline.
Interesting to see young Holly Hunter, Jason Alexander and Fisher Stevens on show.
This would fit nicely into Jimmys current marathon.
My Rating
Out of a Possible 5

Tom's TV Pilots marathon, a review by Tom

     Ultraman: The Complete Series (1966/Japan)
IMDb | Wikipedia

Mill Creek Entertainment (United States)
Length:960 min.
Video:Full Frame 1.33:1
Audio:English: Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo, Japanese: Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo
Subtitles:English

Plot:
When the world is threatened by alien invaders and giant prehistoric monsters, there is only one agency equipped to handle the situation, The Science Patrol, and ultra-sophisticated police force equipped with high-tech weaponry and spacecrafts. Led by Captain Muramatsu, the team defends the planet from the unknown. When all their weaponry can't stop their foes, one of their members, Hayata, transforms into the giant superhero from Nebula M7B...Ultraman!

Ultraman
Season 1.01 Ultra Operation #1

An unintentially funny series. The toy like model shots are a riot. And how it is supposed to be in an old Japanese series, we have a guy in a Godzilla like monster suit. Ultraman also transforms into monster size, and we can see two men in a rubber suit wrestling
Also the title song for some reason is just fun listening to.
This is a Mill Creek Entertainment release. I bought this 39 episode series for just under $10. It contains both an English dub and the original Japanese audio track with English subtitles.
