Back to the Future: Part III, a review by DJ DoenaJanuary, 18th Michael J. Fox ... Marty McFly / Seamus McFly Christopher Lloyd ... Dr. Emmett Brown Mary Steenburgen ... Clara Clayton Thomas F. Wilson ... Buford 'Mad Dog' Tannen / Biff Tannen Lea Thompson ... Maggie McFly / Lorraine McFly Elisabeth Shue ... Jennifer Parker James Tolkan ... Chief Marshal James Strickland Matt Clark ... Chester the Bartender Synopsis: Marty's stuck in 1955 while the Doc's back in 1885. But the Doc isn't going to live much longer after he had written the letter and Marty decides to go back and get him.But the old West didn't have real roads and Marty subsequently rips the fuel line apart. Now they have to find another way to accelerate the DeLorean to 88 miles per hour. As if this weren't enough Doc also falls in love and Marty agrees to a gunfight against 'Mad Dog' Tannen. My Opinion: In my opinion this movie is a bit more serious than the other two and both characters seem to have grown a lot due to their travels. I felt it to be a bit unfair that Marty travelled back to save Doc's life and he doesn't even thank him by warning him of the "Rolls-Royce accident". But I also thought it to be a really good idea to let Marty make that decision alone and to show that the time travels have taught him something. I also thought that Mary Steenburgen was a great addition and to see Doc in love was very nice. It great conclusion to a fantastic trilogy. BTW: When Marty arrives in 1985 the formerly know Shonash/Clayton Ravine is now called Eastwood Ravine. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.40:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 5.1, French: Dolby Digital: 5.1, Audio Descriptive: Dolby Digital: Dolby Surround, Commentary: Dolby Digital: Dolby Surround Subtitles: English, French Stars: John Cusack Amanda Peet Chiwetel Ejiofor Thandie Newton Oliver Platt Plot: From Roland Emmerich, director of The Day After Tomorrow and Independence Day, comes the ultimate action-adventure movie, exploding with groundbreaking special effects. As the world faces a catastrophe of apocalyptic proportions, cities collapse and continents crumble. 2012 brings an end to the world and tells of the heroic struggle of the survivors. Starring John Cusack, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Amanda Peet, Danny Glover and Woody Harrelson. Extras: Scene Access Audio Commentary Bonus Trailers Deleted Scenes Featurettes Music Videos My Thoughts: Kiss your ass goodbye! Given that I am in the midst of a mini Elvis marathon, which most of his movies were disasters I thought I would keep with that theme and watch 2012... a movie about a disaster. Well... I know where I want to be when the world is ending... wherever John Cusack is because apparently he is the luckiest sumbitch on the entire planet! Great action, superb effects, beautiful destruction, but after awhile I started to feel like I was watching the 5th installment of the Final Destination franchise as Cusack and his family cheat death by mere nanoseconds for a good hour and half straight. I'm sure even die hard action junkies were groaning 'Awww, c'mon...' Somebody please tell Roland Emmerich that reality does not have to be sacrificed in order to achieve thrills. What is scary is that a good deal of this vision of Armageddon could potentially happen. I don't buy into any of that Mayan calender crap but the massive quakes, California sinking into the Pacific Ocean, monstrous tsunamis... gonna happen some day. I just hope I am long gone before it does. I enjoyed this and I think it has great rewatchability. Season 2 Title: Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season Two Year: 1997 Rating: 15 Length: 932 Min. When She Was Bad (1997-09-15) Writer: Joss Whedon (Created By), Joss Whedon (Writer) Director: Joss Whedon Cast: Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy Summers), Nicholas Brendon (Xander Harris), Alyson Hannigan (Willow Rosenberg), Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia Chase), David Boreanaz (Angel), Anthony Stewart Head (Giles), Kristine Sutherland (Joyce Summers), Robia La Morte (Jenny Calendar), Andrew J. Ferchland (The Anointed One), Dean Butler (Hank Summers), Brent Jennings (Absalom), Armin Shimerman (Principal Snyder), Tamara Brown (Tara) In my opinion one of the weakest Buffy episodes. Highlight is the first scene with the almost kiss between Willow and Xander. Buffy behaves like a bitca without a real reason. So she feels down because of the Master. I can understand that she's depressed, but is that a reason for her behaviour in this episode? Sadly this trend continues in later seasons. Rating: 02. Some Assembly Required (1997-09-22) Writer: Joss Whedon (Created By), Ty King (Writer) Director: Bruce Seth Green Cast: Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy Summers), Nicholas Brendon (Xander Harris), Alyson Hannigan (Willow Rosenberg), Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia Chase), David Boreanaz (Angel), Anthony Stewart Head (Giles), Robia La Morte (Jenny Calendar), Angelo Spizirri (Chris Epps), Michael Bacall (Eric), Ingo Neuhaus (Daryl Epps), Melanie MacQueen (Mrs. Epps), Amanda Wilmshurst (Cheerleader) Probably the low point of Buffy. After this episode the real fun begins. But this episode is just stupid. The only good thing is Giles trying to ask out Jenny Calendar and their date later on. Best line: (Angel to Buffy) "I saw fire and I thought you were here" Rating: (From Tom's Buffy and Angel Marathon on January 31st, 2009) |
