All Night Long, a review by Antares

All Night Long (1962) 82/100 - From what I've read, this is based upon Shakespeare's Othello, but having never read or watched the play, I can't comment on that aspect of the story. But I do know Jazz music, and this film has a crisp, cool atmosphere to it and the performances by Dave Brubeck, Tubby Hayes and Charlie Mingus are all first rate, along with Marti Stevens belting out a couple of tunes. In fact, the music really takes center stage as it helps to evoke the emotions that are slowly ramping up as Patrick McGoohan's character slowly and methodically torches a relationship. The story works for the first hour or so, but then when McGoohan uses a reel to reel tape player to edit a couple of conversations, you can feel the air go out of the balloon. Maybe there was no other way to incorporate one of Shakespeare's key moments in the play, but this plot device flies in the face of reality. How could his character not realize that eventually his machinations would be exposed, especially by the party's host? Still, it's a gripping yarn that takes a few bold leaps in its story arc. You get to see two characters smoking a joint, and there are two interracial couples that nary warrant an askew glance from anyone at the party. This is definitely a film that could not, or would not play in the Deep South at the time it was released.

Teal = Masterpiece
Dark Green = Classic or someday will be
Lime Green = A good, entertaining film
Orange = Average
Red = Cinemuck
Brown = The color of crap, which this film is

Seedpeople, a review by GSyren

TitleSeedpeople
Year1992
DirectorPeter Manoogian
StarsSam Hennings, Andrea Roth, Dane Witherspoon, Bernard Kates, Holly Fields
OverviewThe sleepy little town of Comet Valley has been invaded by plants from outer space. Intent on taking over the Earth, the space plants have found a way to pollinate humans, thus turning them into walking seed carriers.

Can the resourceful residents fight off the alien invaders, or is the planet doomed to become an alien garden?
My thoughtsFrom an idea by [executive producer] Charles Band. Well, let me guess what ideas good old Charlie had:
* We can take the story from Invasion of the Body Snatchers, add some monsters and a little blood, and nobody will see the connection. Fail!
* We let John Carl Buechler build the monsters. He'll do a terrific job of it. Fail!
* It'll be as good as the original. Heck, it'll be even better. Epic fail!

It's not the worst movie I've ever seen. But that's not saying much, because I've seen some real turkeys. But there's hardly anything good about it either. It's silly without being funny. Story, acting, directing, everything is just mediocre.
If you want to see Invasion of the Body Snatchers, see the original. Or even any of the official remakes. The '78 remake is almost as good as the '56 original. The '93 remake by Abel Ferrara is so-so, but hey, it's got a young Gabrielle Anwar. This one is pretty much just a waste of time.

Angel Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Angel: Season 4

13. Salvage
Original Air Date: 3/5/2003
Angel's evil alter ego, who's out of his cage and pursuing the Beast, hits a pool hall packed with vamps to see if he can determine the demon's hideout. Meanwhile, at the hotel, Wes goes about the grisly task of dispatching Lilah's corpse, as Lorne, Fred and Gunn gather ingredients for a protective sanctuary spell. But the gang is all too familiar with the unpredictability of magic, so Wes pays a visit to the incarcerated Faith to try to persuade her to join the team in the race to prevent Armageddon.

Guest Stars:
Stephanie Romanov
Vladimir Kulich
Eliza Dushku

My Thoughts:
And we have yet another excellent episode! It is so good to see Faith again! And I must say... she knows how to make an exit. Her exit escaping from prison was very cool! And wow! what a fight between Faith and The Beast & Angelus. Lots of action packed excitement in this one!
