Date Movie, a review by addicted2dvd

Date Movie
Bring home the UNRATED DVD that lets you go all the way on the first date! With outrageous features and footage not shown in theaters, here's the ruder, cruder version of the no-holds-barred comedy from two of the six twisted writers behind Scary Movie.

Julia Jones (Alyson Hannigan from the American Pie series) is looking for love in ALL the wrong movies, until she snags the man of her dreams! But now, a devious ex, a farting feline and eccentric in-laws threaten her perfect Hollywood wedding!

My Thoughts:
OK... for those that don't know... a little back story on this one. I spotted this movie in the Wal-Mart bargain bin... but knew nothing about it. I grabbed it up quick though... just because I saw Alyson Hannigan (Willow on Buffy) on the cover... and I liked her on Buffy (and now on How I Met Your Mother). When I started talking about buying it online all I heard was how awful it was... so I find the trailer online. And unfortunately I didn't like the looks of the trailer at all. Even though it was cheap I wanted to watch it to be sure I wouldn't like it. But obviously I went into it with very low expectations. Even with the low expectations I wasn't prepared for this awful mess. Even Alyson Hannigan couldn't save this movie. After only 20 minutes I was prepared to turn it off and say forget it... but I really wanted to make it through this movie. I wasn't even able to managed 1 or 2 chuckles from this one. The jokes in this movie were either gross or just not funny. I will give this movie a half of a star for the appearance of Alyson Hannigan... but the movie itself was not worth the little money I paid for it.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

My Boyfriend's Back, a review by addicted2dvd

My Boyfriend's Back
Teenager Johnny Dingle will do anything to keep his date with the hottest girl in school - even come back from the grave! You see, Johnny had the perfect scheme to win the heart of Missy McCloud, the town beauty. Unfortunately, Johnny's scam goes sour and he winds up dead! Even so, Johnny's determined to keep his date - unaware of the hilarity waiting for him upon his return! See for yourself why everyone's dying to see this outlandishly funny comedy!

My Thoughts:
Hmmmm... what is it that I think about this movie. On one hand it is a fun little Romantic comedy horror. It has an enjoyable story and they do some fun things with the fact that he is a zombie. Like when he is making out with his girl in the care she starts to nibble on his ear and his ear falls off. Being a zombie movie they had to put some gore into it. which of course is done more in a comedic way... and really don't look that real or anything. On the other hand there is a lot of over-acting... and I really didn't care for the comic book inserts into the movie. Not to mention some of the stuff in the movie was just plain silly. I am happy I added it to my collection. But it isn't one I would really watch that often.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

Caroline in the City Marathon, a review by Tom

Pilot (1995-09-21)
Writer: Fred Barron, Marco Pennette, Dottie Dartland
Director: James Burrows
Cast: Lea Thompson (Caroline), Eric Lutes (Del), Malcolm Gets (Richard), Amy Pietz (Annie), Andy Lauer (Charlie), Tom La Grua (Remo), Jason Workman (Jeff), Cathy Ladman (Ultimate Fan), John Mariano (Maitre D'), Sean Gregory Sullivan (Monroe), Christine Taylor (Debby)

Richard, a struggling and cynic artist, starts to work for Caroline, a cartoonist, as a colorist to make ends meet.
This pilot has a little of a cheap sitcom effect to it with some awkward acting. But beginning with the introduction of Richard I was reminded again, what I liked about this series. Richard's try humor when dealing with the motor-mouth Caroline.
Also Charlie as far as I remember was a character I liked. When I remember correctly, he will be constantly on roller-skates later on in the series.
The slut neighbor Annie will also be a good source of humor with the rivalry between her and Richard (if memory serves correctly).

Caroline and the Mugger (1995-09-28)
Writer: Dottie Dartland
Director: James Burrows
Cast: Lea Thompson (Caroline), Eric Lutes (Del), Malcolm Gets (Richard), Amy Pietz (Annie), Charles Mavich (Man in Plaid), Raf Mauro (Mugger), Steve Anthony Espinosa (Steve), Jeffrey Garcia (Jeff), Christopher Maleki (Chris)

Lea Thompson's character: "Do you think I might gonna go crazy and wanna rent 'Howard the Duck'"

Richard is mugged by a unarmed little man and the others make fun of him because of it.
A decent episode. The actors are obviously now more comfortable in their roles.

Caroline and the Gay Art Show (1995-10-05)
Writer: Ian Praiser
Director: James Burrows
Cast: Lea Thompson (Caroline), Eric Lutes (Del), Malcolm Gets (Richard), Amy Pietz (Annie), Andy Lauer (Charlie), Dan Butler (Kenneth Arabian), Tom La Grua (Remo), Neal Lerner (Allen), John Mariano (Johnny), Jack Kenny (Howard Berman)

Richard's art is displayed at a gallery for gay artists. He has to keep it a secret, that he is straight to not be pulled from the exhibit.
Dan Butler (Bulldog from Frasier) guest stars as the gallery owner. A typical "reverse gay joke" episode. But it fits with the characters. Luckily no crinch-worthy jokes here. And Charlie is now on his trademark roller skates :)
