Night of the Demons (1988), a review by Jimmy

MOVIE / DVD INFO:

Title: Night of the Demons (1988)

Genre: Horror
Director: Kevin Tenney
Rating: NR
Length: 1h30
Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85:1
Audio: English
Subtitles: None

Stars:
Allison Barron
Amelia Kinkade
Linnea Quigley
Alvin Alexis
Billy Gallo

Plot:
It's Halloween night and Angela is throwing a party, but this is no ordinary spook bash. Everybody's headed to Hull House, a deserted funeral home with a shocking secret in its past and something evil alive in its basement. Now the guests are becoming possessed, and this party's treats include tongue ripping, eyeball gouging, gratuitous nudity, bloody dismemberment and more. Welcome to the blowout where all Hell is breaking loose: You're invited to NIGHT OF THE DEMONS!

My Thoughts:
The plot said it all, so don't expect to be surprise... not that it is a bad thing. In fact it's a pretty good eighties special effects showcase who doesn't felt long at all. We got a good karma hit at the end and the script sure didn't played the stereotypical survivors at the end (at least for one of them).

Not sure if someone who wasn't there in the eighties would like that film, but I was there so I love it :P

Veer-Zaara, a review by dfmorgan

Veer-Zaara

Year: 2004
Director: Yash Chopra
Cast: Shahrukh Khan, Rani Mukherji, Preity Zinta
Overview: Squadron Leader Veer Pratap Singh (Shahrukh Khan) is a rescue pilot with the Indian Air Force, who risks his own life to save the lives of others. One day, on duty, he comes across a stranded Zaara (Preity Zinta) ... a girl from Pakistan. Zaara, a carefree, sprightly girl has come to India to fulfill her surrogate mother's dying wish. She meets with a bus accident leaving her stranded in a foreign land.

Veer saves her life... and his life is never the same again...

Twenty-two years later, Saamiya Siddiqui (Rani Mukerji), a Pakistani lawyer on her first case, finds herself face-to-face with an ageing Veer Pratap Singh. He has languished in a Pakistan jail cell for 22 years and has not spoken to anyone all these years - and no one knows why. Her mission is to discover the truth about Veer and see to it that justice is served. And thus starts her journey to unveil the truth...

Veer-Zaara is not an ordinary story - it is a Love Legend... Veer and Zaara's love legend. This is a saga of love, separation, courage and sacrifice. A love that is divine, a love that is whole-hearted, a love that is completely consuming, a love that grows with separation, deepens with sacrifice.

A love that is an inspiration... and will remain a legend forever.

My Thoughts: As per the overview a love story. A very weepy love story. At its heart an ordinary 'boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy meets girl again' love story but with some different twists and turns which makes this no ordinary love story. Totally captivating and wonderful.

My Rating: A wonderful 5

Pete's Pilots, a review by addicted2dvd

Charlie's Angels
Once upon a time, Jill, Sabrina & Kelly were police officers whose skills were being wasted in menial duties such as filing and answering phones. A mysterious millionaire named Charles Townsend took them away from all that by opening his own private investigation agency, and hiring these gorgeous ladies as his operatives with John Bosley acting as their assistant and liaison. The "Angels" frequently went undercover as models, strippers or cocktail waitresses in their investigations.

Hell Ride
Investigating a conspiracy surrounding the murder of a famed female racer, Sabrina goes undercover as a racecar driver, while Jill and Bosley pose as holy-rollers to spread their gospel on the racetrack. When the Angels foil a covert diamond heist, the speedway never looked so sexy!

My Thoughts:
This one I have on a Best of disc that contains '70s Cop Shows. I know... you would have never guessed what with the cover image and all. I did enjoy this episode. The ladies were beautiful and fun to watch. I wouldn't call this one a favorite. But it is definitely worth watching. I think at the right price I would get the season sets of this show.
