Hud, a review by KinkyCyborgTitle:Hud Year: 1963 Director: Martin Ritt Rating: NR Length: 112 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.35:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 5.1, English: Dolby Digital: Mono, French: Dolby Digital: Mono Subtitles: English Stars: Paul Newman Melvyn Douglas Patricia Neal Brandon De Wilde Whit Bissell Plot:Extras: Scene Access Closed Captioned My Thoughts: One of Paul Newman's finest performances. He plays a real miserable cur in this one. He has the whole world and nothing at all both at the same time. The tension between him and his father, excellently played by Melvyn Douglas, sets the tone throughout leading to a sorrowful conclusion. The slaughter scene of all the diseased cattle was fascinating and a real exclamation point to the tragedy of circumstance. Patricia Neal is a real saucy firecracker! She gave a great performance and now I want to see more of her films. The only thing that bothered me about Hud was how abruptly it ends.... but I guess that was the point. The viewer and even Hud himself knows he will never change, even as he watches everything important to him disappear... nothing further to explain. My Thoughts: While I enjoyed this miniseries... it wasn't as good as most I have seen come from Stephen King. The odd part is I really can't put my finger on what problem I had with it. The cast was good... as was the storyline. But it just didn't feel up to par with what I have come to expect from Stephen King. But this one is worth the time put in to watch it. Just try to lower your expectations a little before watching. My Rating: Scorecard: TV Eps: 23 Movies: 13 (From Month Long Horror/Halloween Marathon on October 12th, 2014) "Due South" marathon, a review by RickVictoria's Secret - Part 1 From the very beginning you can tell this episode is going to be different. There was some comedy in it, the hat as Tom pointed out I also got a chuckle at the vacuum and the TV Fraser borrowed, both were broken and HE had to fix them before he returned them But it is for the most part all Drama. I thought Ray acted kinda crappy when he came to Fraser's house to get the money, it did give them a chance for Fraser to leave the appartment (click to show/hide) The story is pretty predictible but still enjoyable. Great ending. The next episode is beginning right now Rating: (From "Due South" marathon on July 28th, 2009) |
