Chocolate, a review by addicted2dvd

Chocolate
Jamie ('Henry Thomas' of GANGS OF NEW YORK) is a depressed young divorced man who creates artificial flavorings until the day his life is hijacked by a series of random sensory flashes. Psychically linked to an unknown beautiful woman ('Lucie Laurier'), Jamie suddenly begins to experience all the pain, passion and forbidden pleasures of her existence. But when a murderous vision rips his obsession wide open, Jamie is driven to track down and confess his love to this mystery mate. Will psychosexual hunger lead to the girl of his dreams or does the ultimate horror await the lonely man who tastes someone else's chocolate?

'Matt Frewer' (DAWN OF THE DEAD) co-stars in this sexy and twisted shocker written and directed by MASTERS OF HORROR creator 'Mick Garris', the director of THE STAND, RIDING THE BULLET and THE SHINING.

My Thoughts:
This episode... although pretty good... is not one I would call a favorite. The idea of experiencing someone else's sense is a bit on the weird side to me personally. The horror in this one is kept low-key. Though there is some blood to it... there is not all that much when it comes to gore. It definitely does have it's share of nudity/sex in it. Which really is also commonplace in this series. Just like all the previous episodes... this one has good quality and is loaded with extras.

Decoys, a review by addicted2dvd

Title: Decoys
Year: 2004
Director: Matt Hastings
Rating: R
Length: 96 Min.
Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.78:1
Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 5.1
Subtitles: English

Stars:
Corey Sevier
Stefanie von Pfetten
Kim Poirier
Elias Toufexis
Meghan Ory
Enis Esmer

Plot:
Some students aren't exactly what they seem to be in DECOYS, a sci-fi/horror adventure starring Kim Poirier (Dawn of the Dead), Richard Burgi (Starship Troopers 2), Corey Sevier (TV's "North Shore") and Nicole Eggert (TV's "Baywatch").

If college coeds Lily and Constance look like two out-of-this-world blonde beauties, that's because they're actually intergalactic space invaders with a mission: to breed with humans before taking over the Earth. And even though the girls' mating skills have proven fatal to their victims, they keep on trying. So when Luke, a hard-partying freshman, accidentally witnesses the shapely shape-shifters in their full-bodied alien state, he knows it's up to him to save the planet before he truly gets wasted.

Extras:
Scene Access
Bonus Trailers
Featurettes
Closed Captioned

My Thoughts:
I went into this one not expecting too much.... and it is a good thing I didn't. While not a terribly bad movie... it was no more then an average low-budget fair. It seemed like I seen it all before. It was like they took the idea of 2 or 3 different movies... slapped it together.... and then put it into a cold setting. It even had the all too expected "surprise" ending that I saw coming a mile away. I would say the only thing this one really had going for it is pretty girls in skimpy clothes. Well the did make the aliens in their natural form look pretty cool... but even that reminded me of aliens from another movie.

My Rating
Out of a Possible 5

The One Where It All Began: The Pilot Marathon, a review by DJ Doena

Since I've purchased quite a number of new TV shows, I thought to resurrect this marathon.

V (1983)

What's the show about?
A group of underground rebels fights against an alien race who have invaded Earth without making it appear as such. The resistance cell is a motley crew with all kinds of backgrounds and their goal is it to expel the aliens again. And their sign is the "V" - for "Victory!".

"V"
One day a number of huge space ships appear all over the world. But they don't come as enemies, but as friends. In exchange for a certain chemical the aliens give us cures for all kinds of diseases and improve our technology. But the aliens and their intentions are not what they appear to be.

My Opinion
The show comprises of the two mini-series V (1983), V: The Final Battle (1984) and the one-season-show V (1984). It has aged quite well, the storytelling stands out for a show of its time and the special effects don't look that bad, either. It's still very watchable and that the subject is still interesting is proven by the fact that a remake of the show will come to television land this fall.
