Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honnêamise, a review by Jon

5 out of 5

Set on a world not unlike Earth, Shiro is a young man who wanted to join his country's air force, but directionless, instead finds himself in the ridiculed Royal Space Force. The bumbling Shiro is changed after meeting Riquinni, a caring girl who helps him find his spiritual centre. As we witness slacker Shiro and the hapless space force crew find new purpose, the corruption of the government conspires against the success of the launch, as the space race becomes fuel for war.

My Thoughts:
I liked this one quite a bit. Of course that could have something to do with the fact that I am a fan of Katherine Heigl. I have enjoyed her work since she was in the TV Series Roswell. Then I also thought she was great in the series Grey's Anatomy. Yes... this movie is very predictable... but then what Romantic Comedy isn't? In my eyes romantic comedies isn't about the ending... but the journey leading up to it. And this one I found to be a lot of fun. I have read other reviews for this movie... and for the most part they seem to agree that this one is nothing special... bordering on boring. Well, what can I say? This isn't the first time I seemed to be the only one to enjoy something a lot. But that does tell me to be cautious in recommending it. So I would have to tell people to try catching it on cable or something. Don't buy this movie on my review alone. But I do see myself upgrading it to widescreen if I get a chance.

My PILOT Marathon, a review by Rich

Futurama - Season 1

Space Pilot 3000

This collection presents the entire first season of Matt Groening's Futurama in all of its absurd, sci-fi glory. After accidentally freezing himself in 1999, pizza delivery boy Fry (voiced by Billy West) wakes up in New York City at the beginning of the 31st century. There he meets the fiesty, one-eyed Leela (voiced by Katey Sagal), the beer-swilling robot Bender (voiced by John Di Maggio), and other strange characters. Together they embark on ridiculous journeys as part of a interplanetary delivery service.

Never going to be a favourite show of mine, but my son is a big fan and probably the target audience in terms of age etc.
Personally I am glad to have now seen the original episode which explains the whole concept, how Fry got there, how he met up with the other characters. It helps make sense of the few random episodes I've seen over the years.
There are a few laughs to be had, but to be honest I was glad this finished so quickly.
