The Night Stalker, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: The Night Stalker Movie Count: 70 TV Ep Count: 35 Other Count: 2 Time Started: 11:30am Plot: This unforgettable first entry in the "Night Stalker" series introduced the world to the quirky reporter with a penchant for the paranormal and became "one of the top-rated TV movies of all time" ('Chicago Tribune')! Investigating a series of Las Vegas murders, Carl Kolchak (Darren McGavin) discovers that each victim has been bitten in the neck and drained of blood. Though Kolchak's outlandish theory about the murders gets him nowhere with the police, his initiative to apprehend the killer himself gets him into hot water... with a modern-day vampire! . My Thoughts: This TV Movie from 1972 was enjoyable. Obviously being from the early '70s and originating on TV it doesn't show any gore or anything like that. But I think it is a really good start to the series that came from this movie (and The Night Strangler). This one was also a bit on the short side. Only 74 minutes long. Which means it probably ran for an hour and a half when it originally aired on TV. My Rating Out of a Possible 5 (From My Month Long Horror/Halloween Marathon: 2008 on October 21st, 2008) Hollywoodland, a review by addicted2dvd

My Thoughts: In honor of George Reeves' birthday today (Jan. 5th)... I thought that I would check this movie out. I been wanting to see it for quite a while now. Over-all I enjoyed this one. But it wasn't quite as good as I was expecting. It could be because I went into this one with somewhat high expectations. But I found it to run a little slow for my taste, and they made use of flashbacks... which is right for the story they were telling... but I personally always preferred a straight story without flashbacks. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From What Movies I Been Watching on January 5th, 2013) Tom's TV Pilots marathon, a review by Tom
Plot: Way too edgy for network TV, this funny, uncensored, naming-names series peels off the glitter of Hollywood moviemaking and exposes the duplicitous but totally addictive, behind-the-scenes truth. Campy, uncesored and very controversial, this "too-close-to reality" show features guest stars that include Keanu Reeves, Salma Hayek, Scott Wolf and Sandra Bullock. Superstar producer Peter Dragon (Jay Mohr, host of TV's "Last Comic Standing") builds his stellar career on the three pillars of show business - prostitution, nepostism and dishonesty. Adding to that an ego as big as a Beverly Hills mansion, the aptly named Dragon and his cohorts manage to be politically incorrect, backstabbing, phony, petty, pissy and most of all -- ingeniously funny! Action 1.01 Pilot Writer: Chris Thompson (Writer) Director: Ted Demme Cast: Jay Mohr (Peter Dragon), Illeana Douglas (Wendy Ward), Jarrad Paul (Adam Rafkin), Jack Plotnick (Stuart Glazer), Buddy Hackett (Uncle Lonnie), Keanu Reeves (Himself), Lee Arenberg (Bobby G.), Cindy Ambuehl (Jane Gianopolis), Michelle Hurd (Gina), Gavin Polone (Dodi), Richard Burgi (Cole Riccardi), Sara Paxton (Georgia Dragon), Hector Contreras (Manny Sanchez), Johnny Grant (Himself) Not a bad series and not a bad first episode, but I never quite grew to like it. Maybe it's because Jay Mohr plays a prick so well, that it's hard to get invested in the character Rating: (From Tom's TV Pilots marathon on March 25th, 2011) |
