5 Dolls for an August Moon, a review by JimmyMOVIE / DVD INFO: Title: 5 Dolls for an August Moon (1970) Genre: Murder Mystery Director: Mario Bava Rating: Unrated Length: 1h21 Video: Widescreen Audio: Italian Subtitles: English Stars:Plot: Bava's ultra-mod 1970 murder mystery remains one of the most critically divisive and little-seen films of his career. Bava imbues the derivative script with a sly streak of black humor and a steady stream of eye-popping visuals, including a va-va-voom performance by giallo goddess Edwige Fenech. Never released theatrically in America, it has since become a favorite of Bava fans worldwide. My Thoughts: Now that's more what I like, a well done sexy Giallo that isn't the most brutal one but certainly complicated. What we have is essentially is murders that happen in a close room (ok it's an island, but this is mostly the same) and we know that the murderer is one of the 10 protagonists. Evidently you will make a lot wrong guess before knowing who is the killer and this is the essence of a good Giallo, a genre where the Italians are the masters. The end was a surprise for me the first time and I've appreciated it and I've seen the hints that explain it (I've seen the movie 3 times it sure help). Great performance from Howard Ross, Maurice Poli (wait to see him in Kidnapped(From Mario Bava marathon on July 5th, 2009) Silent Night, Deadly Night, a review by JimmyThis one was a little bit later on my list, but since Christmas is tomorrow... Silent Night, Deadly Night Years : 1984 Director : Charles E. Sellier Jr. Stars : Lilyan Chauvin Gilmer McCormick Toni Nero Robert Brian Wilson Synopsis : At Christmas night the parents of little Billy are kill by Santa Claus. He grew up in an orphanage where the mother superior teach him that the naughty people must be punish. Years later he find a job in a toy store and had a normal life untill he have to replace the store Santa Claus. All his past come at him and he'll became Santa Claus...a Santa who punish the naughty!!! Viewing experience : This is a great 80's slasher movie that I watch every year when Christmas arrive. Contrary to the others slasher films of this period, the action of the killer don't happen for no reason : All the people killed have a logic reason to be (for this kind of movie). Robert Brian Wilson have only this film to his credit (some tv figuration only) and it's surprising, since he did a goob job. Linnea Quigley is in the cast and that's always a good thing. A very good way to pass a pleasant time in front of the TV, this movie is on the top class of the 80's slasher. The second part is good too, but more funny that anything else. Rating : 3,5/5 Movie Trailer : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qK-85acDd5s I have the old Anchor Bay release with the part 1 and 2 who is now out of print. But, a new edition with the first part only was release the 11 december by Anchor Bay again. P.S : Pete you don't seem to have it on your collection give it a try. I think that you will like it. There's No Place Like Plrtz Glrb Original Air Date: 5/22/2001 Angel struggles with the inner beast that the demon dimension brings out in him, while Cordelia learns that her role as princess involves mating with a demon, and Wesley and Gunn band with rebel forces to overthrow the government and Her Majesty. Guest Stars: Amy Acker Brody Hutzler Mark Lutz Michael Phenicie Alyson Hannigan (Cameo) My Thoughts: And the final episode of the second season... a good episode. I did enjoy it. Though it probably could have been more exciting. There wasn't quite as much action as I would have liked. But an entertaining episode all the same. In the final moment of the episode we see Willow waiting for Angel in the hotel... upset. And without a single word from her Angel knows that there is a problem with Buffy.
