Blank Check, a review by KinkyCyborgTitle:Blank Check Year: 1994 Director: Rupert Wainwright Rating: PG Length: 93 Min. Video: Full Frame 1.33:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo, French: MPEG-2: 2-Channel Stereo, Spanish: MPEG-2: 2-Channel Stereo Subtitles: Stars: Brian Bonsall Karen Duffy James Rebhorn Jayne Atkinson Michael Faustino Plot:Extras: Scene Access Closed Captioned My Thoughts: Totally implausible Disney film about a boy who comes by a blank check and cashes it for a million dollars. Some funny bits, but not many. The highlight of this one was Rick Ducommun, better known as the nosy neighbor Art from The Burbs. He's one of those comedian actors who they don't even give a script to... they just let him improvise his lines just to see what he is going to say and it is often hilarious! I'm used to seeing Miguel Ferrer play a sleazeball, and he does it quite well, but in a 'G' rated family movie it stinks of blasphemy. It's rare to see an actor who normally plays hardened criminals or scumbags make the transition to family fare and make it work. Joe Pesci pulled it off in the Home Alone flicks, but that was a rare exception. Kids in the 6-12 age group might like this and have some laughs, but for just about anyone else it's sure to be a bore. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.35:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: Dolby Surround, English: Dolby Digital: 5.1, French: Dolby Digital: Dolby Surround Subtitles: N/A Stars: Patrick Stewart Jonathan Frakes Brent Spiner LeVar Burton Michael Dorn Gates McFadden Plot:Extras: Scene Access Feature Trailers Featurettes Closed Captioned My Thoughts: This one felt like a double length episode more then a movie to me for some reason. I'm not saying that is a bad thing... as I did like this one. That being said there was some things that didn't work in this one. That mostly being the comedy they tried to add. I especially had to shake my head at Data becoming a flotation device. I did like that they went back to the series on some things. Like the Riker/Troi relationship or Geordie wanting to see normally. And that right there could be why it felt more like a double length episode to me instead of the theatrical movie that it is. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Weekend Movie Marathon: The Final Frontier on August 15th, 2010) Fear Itself Marathon, a review by addicted2dvdFear Itself: The Complete Series 5. In Sickness and in Health On the day of her wedding to Carlos, Samantha recieves a shocking note that reads, "The person you are marrying is a serial killer." Director: John Landis (An American Werewolf in London) Stars: Maggie Lawson James Roday Marshall Bell Sonja Bennett William B. Davis My Thoughts: This is another episode I never seen before. It originally aired as the 4th episodes of the series. William B. Davis (The X-Files) played the part of the priest that married the couple. While it is not a terrible episode... It definitely needs a lot of work. The storyline,,, while works is not as interesting as it could be. Plus added to that is the fact that they went with the obvious twist I seen it coming from the very beginning of the episode. If there is many episodes such as this one that originally aired on TV... it comes to no surprise that the series got canceled after airing only 8 episodes.
